Sad Good Byes, Spicy Tacos, & A Sweet Treat

IMG_0348 This was an early Saturday morning for me.  I got up at 7:00 when my alarm went off, threw on some clothes, and went over to Mom & Dad’s.  I scarfed down some toast for breakfast and we hit the road.  We dropped Mom & Dad off at their airport terminal b/c they are going on a trip to Scandinavia & Russia.  Nate’s flight didn’t leave for another 4 hours, so we left the airport and went to get some food.  I wanted to spend some time w/ Nate since I didn’t really have any one-on-one time w/ him while he was home.  We were going to try and find a Tongan place that Mou had taken me to once, but it didn’t open until later in the day.  So, we ended up going to Sonic to get a drink.  I told Nate we had to get a pic together so he put on his 80’s sunglasses and said we had to do the biggest and cheesiest grin that we could.

IMG_0349We didn’t stay at Sonic for too long b/c I needed to get back to relieve Nick from watching Autumn.  It was sad to say good-bye to Nate.  I hurried and snapped this pic (that was dumb of me to do it w/ us looking into the sun) and hugged him and said good-bye so he couldn’t see me tearing up.  I love all of my family so much and am thankful for the good times & memories we were able to create while he was home for a few short weeks.  I hope & pray that Mom & Dad & Nate all get safely to their destinations.

IMG_0350 I got home and told Autumn to get dressed so we could run some errands and have a productive Saturday.  We went to Bath & Body Works to take advantage of their semi-annual sale and stock up on some wall flower plug ins and soaps.  Plus, I had a $10 off coupon.  Then we went to the $1 Store so I could try and find a treat to go along w/ my Young Women’s lesson on prayer tomorrow.  We didn’t find what I was looking for, but actually found something that goes along w/ the lesson even better that what I had planned.  We also both scored some sweet sunglasses for just $1.  I will be buying all my sunglasses from there in the future.  I like mine, b/c they are a polyurethane, so when I put them on they make everything have a 1970’s picture tint to them.  Most sunglasses make things look darker but this gives things a brighter color.  It’s like stepping back into the pictures of my childhood when I put them on.

P1070090We ran a few more errands and then went over to Mom & Dad’s house.  We spent a few hours playing and swimming in the pool w/ Nick.  Then we got hungry and decided to go out for dinner before Nick had to go to work at 5:45.  We wanted to try a new place I had heard a lot of good things about.  It’s called Torchy’s Tacos.  We tried the Chicken fajita, Green Chile Pork, Brushfire, and Trailer Park tacos.  My favorite by far was the Trailer Park (I got it Trashy style) and it was super good.  The other 3 were so spicy that they burned our mouths, and that’s w/out even putting the hot sauces on them.  Nick’s face cracks me up in this picture.

cbrc Anyways, Nick went off to work & Autumn and I went home and made some cake batter rice krispie treats from here that I had pinned on Pinterest.  They were good, but I definitely like my rice krispie treats a lot more gooey.  I thought these were way too dry.  Next time I would do more butter and marshmallows and cake mix.  Also, I wouldn’t mix the sprinkles in w/ the marshmallow mixture.  They melted and looked yucky in my opinion.  I would just put some on top at the end.

Autumn & I ended up staying over at Mom & Dad’s to take care of Emma.  Plus, I wanted to get a crock pot meal going in the morning so we would have some yummy food to come home to after church.  Right before I drifted off to sleep, I got a text from Nate that he had made it home safe and sound.
