Crafty Kids

IMG_7844 Today we were a lot more productive than yesterday.  After breakfast, Mom got out some crafts for the kids to do.  She had this cute “Give Thanks” banner that we worked on.  The glue wasn’t working very well so Lexie & I stepped in to help took over to help the kids.

IMG_7921 This was the end product and it looks ADORABLE!  We’ll have to store it away and get it out for next year.

IMG_7846 After that we let the kids play while Lexie & I worked on putting up the Christmas tree.  We got about 1/2 way done but we ran out of lights b/c we had to throw about about 7 bunches that would only light 1/2 way.  By this time the kids were restless again so Mom got out these cute Thanksgiving scenes w/ coordinating stickers.  The kids got to put the stickers however they wanted.  They had a blast doing it and ended up w/ some cute ideas.  I like how Autumn put 2 apples in the pot on over the fire.

IMG_7856When Jackson went down for his afternoon nap, Mom & Lexie & I left to run some errands.  We went to Hobby Lobby to get more lights for the Christmas tree.  Then to the $1 Store to get some stuff for my Young Women’s lesson tomorrow.  Then we went to Panda Express to grab some lunch for everyone.  We came home and sat outside on the patio to eat b/c it was so nice out.  After lunch we had yet ANOTHER craft for the kids to do.  We had found them a Spiderman (for Andrew) & Disney Princess (for Autumn) painting kit.  That kept them entertained for quite a while.

IMG_7862 Lexie & I finished getting the Christmas tree up and then we had the kids come in and help us decorate it.  The first thing to go on the tree are these crocheted snowflakes that Dad’s Grandma Taft made.  What a family heirloom!

IMG_7866Once it got dark outside and the kids couldn’t run around outside, we brought them in and let them watch The Grinch & eat popcorn in Mom & Dad’s room.  It was a day full of crafts & I’m glad we got the tree up!  It’s one of my favorite things to sit in the evening when it’s dark and bask in the twinkle of the lights.  “It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas!”
