DIY Chi, Chi, Chi, Chia People

P1090437 After dinner tonight, Autumn went out in the garden to help Papa.  We had a hard freeze a few nights ago where it got down to 28*, so some of the plants froze.  I’m so thankful that Dad has a garden (and green thumb) so that Autumn can learn about gardening, hard work, enjoying the fruits of your labors, etc.

P1090439 I am SO SAD that the hard freeze killed all of Mom’s wisteria blooms!  I hope it didn’t ruin the whole entire plant for the spring and that it’s just the ones that have already bloomed.

P1090443Tonight it was combined Young Women’s and the Beehives were in charge.  They showed THIS great video about the currant bush and having faith during hardships.  Then for the activity we made DIY Chia People.  We each got an empty yogurt cup that we decorated.  Then we put some grass seeds in the bottom of a knee high nylon, filled the rest of it w/ dirt, tied a knot, cut off the extra, and stuck it in the yogurt cup.  You keep the yogurt cup filled 1/2 way w/ water and in a month grass should grow out of the top and look like hair.  It was a lot of fun and the girls got so creative.  Mine is in the middle w/ the hula skirt on.  I obviously didn’t get the memo to put the eyes on the nylon (I thought it would get too wet and muddy once the grass starts growing).  LOL!  It was a really fun activity.
