This morning Autumn woke up at 8:00 and wanted to watch cartoons, so I put them on for her in my room and was able to go back to sleep until 9:00. It was so nice!!! Then we got up, got cleaned up, and rushed over to Mom & Dad’s to help Mom get food ready for conference. The Berrett’s came over to watch it w/ us since they got rid of all the TV’s in their house. We had my favorite spinach dip in a bread bowl, Maggie’s corn & bean salsa, pita chips, hummus, grapes, deviled eggs, and candy. It was fun to just sit and munch while listening to conference.
It was AMAZING to hear how many missionaries there are since Pres. Monson made the announcement about the lower age in October. There are currently 65,634 missionaries serving with over 20,000 calls but the missionaries are not in MTC yet, and 6,000 interviews w/ Bishops!!!
The first session was really good, and in between Autumn went outside to “help” Papa clean out the leaves in the pool. I love it that she’s using a pool noodle like Papa uses the net. Such a sweet picture.
She wanted to go on a walk before the next 2 hour long session started. So, we walked over to our old lot so I could get a pic of the beautiful purple Iris & my favorite old barn. It has really deteriorated and is completely falling apart compared to this picture I took back in March 2009, but I still love it.
Autumn & I noticed a bunch of Iris buds that haven’t bloomed yet. I especially LOVED this one, b/c it looks like it’s wrapped in purple silk, but that’s the flower petal. Nature never ceases to amaze me w/ its beauty.
Then there’s this one that shows one of the petals opening up and the beautiful coloring on the inside of the petal.
And here’s one that’s completely opened up. Simply stunning! Anyways, Autumn’s little 6 year old self couldn’t stand to sit and listen to conference for another 2 hours, so I let her go watch movies in Mom & Dad’s room. I was proud of myself for staying awake the whole time. I really liked Elder Bednar’s talk on the law of chastity.
As soon as this session was over, Mom & I hurried and threw together our super good cornbread for Dad & Nick to take to a chili & cornbread meal before Priesthood session. Once they were gone, Autumn & Mom & I watched some recorded episodes of Dancing With The Stars that we hadn’t seen yet. Autumn & I would get up and dance along w/ the songs, and she was loving it. We finally packed up and came home at 8:30. It was a spiritually uplifting day, and I’m excited for more uplifting messages tomorrow.
I keep saying that I want to come up w/ a tradition for a girl’s get together while the men are gone to priesthood, but I have yet to come up w/ a tradition. I was thinking something like watching Pride & Prejudice during the April conference and then Sense & Sensibility during the October conference??? Do y’all have any fun girl traditions you do while they men are at the priesthood session?
