A few weeks ago Midge (Mom’s cousin) called and said that she & Peggy (her best friend) were going to be driving through Texas and that they would like to come visit. We were SO EXCITED for them to come, and when they said they’d be here on the 28th Mom got so sad b/c she knew she would be in Japan. But, we told them to still come stay at our house and Autumn & I would play hostess. They said they wanted to go out to dinner, so we went to Cheddars. This is such a dark and grainy picture and it looks like I have a missing tooth, but it’s better than nothing!
I got the new Asian salad b/c Autumn likes to eat the croissant. When the salad came out, we all oohed and aahed. It was HUGE & the presentation was amazing. It’s 3 layers of salad separated by these 2 plate sized crisp wantons. You can’t really tell the size of it from this picture, but it was massive. We had such a great time chatting and catching up on what’s going on in each other’s lives the past few years.
After we ate, we went back to Mom & Dad’s house to settle in for the night. I got Autumn to bed and then stayed up and watched Body of Proof w/ Peggy & Midge. We talked and laughed and had a great time. Even though they’re not immediate family, there was still that strong connection there. They’re “my type of people”…fun, laid back, genuine, and easy going. They were so cute & attentive when Autumn was telling the stories about her friends at school. It was also fun to sit back & watch how Autumn interacted w/ them. Yay for family & the bond we share.
