Today was the last day for swim lessons. On the last day the kids have to wear a shirt, pants, and shoes and jump in and swim. That way they experience what it feels like so they don’t panic if someday they do fall into a pool dressed. As you can see, it didn’t hinder Autumn at all. She thought it was fun.
I asked Andrew how it was and he gave me a thumbs up.
After the kids jumped in and swam the length of the pool in their clothes a few times w/ different swim strokes, it was time to teach them more water safety. I love this pic of them gathered around the diving board and listening to Ms. Cis.
Next they reviewed how to help someone who is drowning. They learned you never jump in the water to help a drowning person, b/c they’ll pull you under the water to keep themselves above water. If they’re close enough you lay down on the edge of the pool, and extend your hand. If you can’t reach them that way, you get a stick or pole and reach it out to them to grab onto.
I had to snap this pic of her standing there by herself and waiting for her turn. She seems so big and grown up, especially compared w/ the pic below from just 3 short years ago.
Look at how little she was! Plus, she wouldn’t go off the board by herself b/c she was too scared.
Now she jumps of w/ reckless abandon and does all sorts of things like splits or canon balls, etc. I like this blurry pic of her walking straight off the board like she was walking the plank. The bright colors of her suit look cool all streaked like that.
We love Ms. Cis so much and are so glad the kids take lessons from her.
We have to get our yearly picture w/ Mr. Steve & Ms. Cis w/ the kids in the class. This wasn’t a very good one b/c one of the girls is behind another one and you can’t see her face, and her button is covering up Andrew’s face. But, it’s the best we got so it will have to do. It’s better than nothing.
Autumn had worked on these drawings that she gave to Ms. Cis & Mr. Steve. I had to tell Ms. Cis that her picture is not of her…it’s of a big blow up pool toy. LOL!
Since the kids did so good at their swim lessons this year, I took them to Sonic after we were done to get a celebratory 1/2 price shake.
Such cute cousins! I am so glad they are only 6 months apart in age b/c they are such good friends. Of course they have their moments of being annoyed w/ each other, but overall they play very well together and have a lot of fun.
