Happy 237th Birthday, America!

P1100105 We had a FABULOUS & FUN FILLED 4th of July today.  It started w/ a walk around the neighborhood, and it was so nice b/c the weather was nice (74 degrees) w/ a light breeze.  Autumn kept running ahead of us and then she’d stop and weave around in a circle while putting up her fists like she was going to fight us.  It was SO FUNNY & I got such a kick out of it.

P1100111 I love long shadow pictures.  After our walk, Mom & I got busy and made breakfast and then started getting the food ready for our party today.  We tenderized the steaks, peeled shrimp & put them on skewers, shucked the corn on the cob, and cut up the watermelon & honeydew & cantaloupe.

P1100122 At 11:00, the party started and we had quite the mix of guests.  Pres. Wright came over b/c his family is out of state on vacation.  Mom convinced the people at our  nail place to come over.  I was SHOCKED that they actually came.  They were so nice and brought a HUGE pan of spring rolls, which we LOVE!  None of them brought their swimming suits, except for the little 3 year old girl.  So, I got in the pool and played w/ her.  She was so adorable.

P1100126 Autumn & I had to leave at 1:30 to make it to the theater to see Monster’s University.  The new lady that I visit teach had invited Autumn & I to go see it w/ her and her 5 1/2 year old granddaughter.  Autumn & I threw on some dry clothes and rushed to the theater.  Right as we got up to the window to pay for our tickets, they put up the sign that said the time we wanted was sold out.  So, we bought tickets for the next show, which was in 45 minutes.  But, it was in 3D and I’m not a fan of 3D.  However, I was pleasantly surprised and it ended up being great.  It was also a really cute movie.  Autumn was trying to cover her eyes in this pic b/c she said the sun was too bright.  I’m so glad we got to spend some time w/ Donna & Abby and that they would be kind enough to invite us to see it w/ them.

IMG_9755 As soon as we were done, we rushed home so we could go w/ Mom & Dad out to the baseball game.  Dad had tickets from his work that also included a free meal & snacks during the game.  We ate dinner & then went to another eating area & got ice cream & pop corn & nachos & drinks.  That’s the best way to do a baseball game.  I thought it was cool that the players had on camo jerseys & that the flags were brought out on the field by these disabled veterans.  The crowd stood & clapped the whole time they were coming out onto the field & the whole time they were going off the field.  I got really teary eyed, b/c anything patriotic does that to me.

IMG_9757 Part way through the second inning these old fashioned war planes flew overhead & even the players stopped to watch & clap.  I LOVE plane flyovers.

IMG_9760 I was sitting on the aisle & almost had a phobia freak out when Daisy came walking down the steps right next to me.  I looked over and saw her fur & moved over 4 seats in record time.  I’m proud of myself that I didn’t scream.  We were on the aisle where she would come up & down to get to the field to do entertainment stuff in between the innings.  I finally switched seats w/ Mom so I wasn’t right on the aisle.  I’m so glad Autumn didn’t inherit my fear of people in costumes.  She was so excited to go get her picture w/ Daisy.

IMG_9774Sadly, we lost the game.  But, at the end of the game they did fireworks and it was awesome.  We got out of there & back home in record time.  It’s so weird that I have to work tomorrow, b/c today felt like Saturday.  It was a great 4th of July and I’m so thankful that I got to celebrate this country w/ family & friends.
