Happy 28th Birthday, Nicky Snicky

IMG_1282 This picture quality is horrible, but I don’t care.  Autumn really wanted to do my hair today before church, so I let her.  She was so proud of herself and what a “good” job she had done.  I decided to wear my “Autumn hairdo” to church & not fix it the way I usually do my hair.  I felt a little self conscious at first, b/c it was so flat on top & super frizzy in the back where she had put it in a ponytail.  But she was BEAMING when I told a few people that she had done my hair, so I figured it didn’t matter if it wasn’t the usual way I wear it.  Plus, how could I not look good while sporting a matching flower in my hair?

P1100806 Church today was so uplifting & inspiring…from the talks in sacrament meeting to our discussion in Sunday School about the temple, to the lesson in Relief Society on peace.  I left church today feeling like my spiritual cup was running over.  I love that feeling!  We went to Mom & Dad’s house to make some lunch and set up the laptop to make sure we could watch the brand new Season 4 of Downton Abbey at 3:00 CST.  As soon as the music came on, my heart was SO HAPPY.  It was a great first episode and I’m so excited for the rest of the episodes.

P1100811 As soon as it was over, Mom & I got busy making Nick’s birthday dinner.  I made the blueberry pie (his favorite) and let Autumn play w/ the left over pie crust.  It kept her happy and entertained for a long time.  We had shoyu chicken, rice, stuffing, and corn since those are what Nick requested for his special birthday dinner.

P1100815 Curt & Jessie came over to eat w/ us since Mary is out of town.  Plus, it was fun to have more people there to celebrate our Nicky Snicky.  I can’t believe he’s 28…that makes me REALLY old!

P1100817He went home teaching after dinner, and when he got home I remembered that I had a present for him…these Duck Dynasty cups.  He’s into all things Duck Dynasty lately.  We’re so thankful that he’s a part of our family.  I’m especially grateful that we get to be housemates, b/c he’s so good about doing yard work and loading the dishwasher and watching Autumn for me.  We have such a good time watching Friends or Duck Dynasty or Will & Grace together at the end of the day.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, NICKY SNICKY!!!
