General Conference Saturday

genconfmm We got up this morning and lounged around for a little while.  I love it when Autumn’s a snuggle bug on Saturday mornings.  We finally got cleaned up and headed out so we could make some deliveries.  I had printed off these cute handouts from THIS blog for the ladies I visit teach & gave them a few packages of M&M’s along w/ a little notebook to write down thoughts from conference.

P1100862I didn’t tell any of them that we were coming, so a few of them weren’t home.  We stopped by a few other member’s houses in the area, and one of them was home.  We ended up w/ one extra and I had the thought that I needed to go by someone specific’s house.  They have a daughter that is in Autumn’s class.  I had Autumn take it up to the door (sorry for the crummy picture but I was zoomed out as far as my camera could go).  After she gave it to the girl, she came running back to the car w/ the biggest smile on her face.  We talked about how good it feels to serve and do things for others & how what she’s feeling is the Holy Ghost.  Hopefully it made an impression on her that will last.

P1100863 Mom called while we were out dropping off our goodies and said she needed a few ingredients to make corn bread.  So, we stopped by Wally World.  Autumn LOVES using the self check out lines so she can scan our items.  She says it’s like she’s playing “store”.

P1100865 We had about an hour before General Conference started.  Mom had some extra 12 Apostles cardstock printed out.  So, I cut them out and tried THIS idea that I found on THIS blog.  I got a bunch of different foods and had Autumn put one Apostle on each type of food.  Then, when that person spoke she got to have the food they were paired up with.  It worked GREAT & got Autumn to listen a lot more than she has in the past.

IMG_1324 I just LOVE conference and all the incredible talks.  I especially liked Elder Bednar’s talk about tithing & opening the windows of heaven. Also, Pres. Uchtdorf’s talk entitled “Come, Join With Us.”

P1100871 Autumn fell asleep during the last 30 minutes of conference.  Mom & I got busy making these cool popcorn witch’s hands for the snacks at Autumn’s cheer game today.  I got the clear gloves at Subway when I went there for lunch yesterday.  I just asked for 6 of them and they were nice enough to give them to me.  We had to kind of crush the popcorn to make it fit down in the finger holes, but these came together fast & looked cool.  Those are just candy corns at the bottom for fingernails.

P1100876 It had gotten really cold by the afternoon, so when we got to Autumn’s game we were completely unprepared.  We only had 4 cheerleaders today b/c the rest of the team was gone on a Father/Daughter campout through a program called Indian Princesses.  I thought that was funny since Autumn really IS an Indian Princess.  Look at how warmly these girls are dressed compared to Autumn!

P1100888 The girls did a great job, and the coaches are AWESOME!  They gave the girls a little treat bag w/ an adorable saying to go along w/ it to thank them for coming and cheering even though there were only 4 of them.  It said, “You girls ROCKED (pop rocks)!!!  You are so SWEET (sweet tarts) to cheer even though only a few of you could be here.  You were BURSTING (Starbursts) with energy.  We are so proud of you!  HUGS & KISSES.”

After the game we went back to Mom & Dad’s house to warm up and watch the 2nd session of conference.  My favorite talks were “The Moral Force of Women” by Elder D. Todd Christofferson & “Like A Broken Vessel” by Elder Jeffrey R. Holland.

IMG_1326Tonight was rather historic, b/c it was the first time that the priesthood session was broadcast online & on TV.  But, Dad & Nick still went to the church to watch it b/c the men were getting together before to have chili & cornbread & ice cream.  Autumn & I went to leave and come home, but my car wouldn’t start!  The battery was dead.  So, we had to wait until Dad & Nick got home at 9:30.  Dad tried to give me a jump, but the battery was completely dead.  So, he took it out to have it tested.  I don’t know what I’d do without both him & Mom!!!
