Autumn & I got cleaned up this morning and went over to Mom & Dad’s house to see if we could help get anything ready for Thankgiving. Mom is a ROCKSTAR and had most of it done yesterday. Dad had a good helper in bringing down Mom’s fancy Christmas ornaments.
Dad got Mom’s ornaments hung up w/ the help of all of us giving our input as to what ornaments should go where.
We got all of the food ready, and got ready to load up the cars. Since the weather was supposed to be nice today, Dad put this truck and some bikes in the bed of his truck to take over to Tyler & Emily’s. Autumn & Jackson took it for a spin before Dad loaded it up.
Mom had the kids decorate this pumpkin w/ these wooden turkey pieces to use as a centerpiece.
We got to Tyler & Emily’s and the kids played outside while we put the finishing touches on the food. The kids got their own table, which they thought was super cool.
Nick was SO EXCITED that he got to sit at the adult table this year. We usually have Thanksgiving at Aunt Sandy & Uncle Robert’s, but they are in San Antonio visiting Zack & his wife.
After we ate and did the dishes, we watched the Cowboys game and had some pie. I went upstairs w/ the kids to keep the peace between them and ended up watching The Swan Princess w/ them. I’m SO THANKFUL for this great group of people that I get to call family.
We left at about 5:00 so we could get home before it got too dark. Sweet Jackson fell asleep on the car ride home, and didn’t wake up even when Dad carried his seat into the house. He stayed asleep like this for 2 hours even though we were yelling and cheering while watching football.
One of my favorite parts of Thanksgiving is later on in the day when the big meal is over, the dishes are done, and the Cowboys are playing. I like to make a turkey sandwich w/ the leftovers to have for dinner.
The kids’ favorite part is snuggling/wrestling w/ Papa. Pretty soon he won’t be able to hold all the grandkids b/c there will be 5 of them instead of just 3.
It’s impossible to list all of the things I’m thankful for this year and in general. I definitely have my share of trials and hardships, but overall I am blessed beyond measure and I can truly say, “my cup runneth over.”
