We had a lazy Saturday morning, which are the best kinds. We finally got up & got dressed so we could go to a small town about 20 miles north of us. They were having a Centennial Celebration w/ a parade & street vendors. I knew it was going to be a little chilly out, but it was REALLY COLD! It was 39*, but it was really windy and felt like 25*!!! I love this picture of Autumn shaking her arms around to try and warm up.
It was 11:30 am by the time we got there, and we hadn’t had any breakfast so we got some street tacos ($5 for 2 wimpy, lame, spicy tacos) & a quesadilla ($5 & tiny). We were NOT impressed w/ the food. We walked past this booth from our church and talked to the sister missionaries there for a little bit. They had this cute game & Autumn had fun throwing the ball into the snowman.
We made our way over to the main street through town and lined up so we had a good place to view the parade. I have to say that it was not the best parade I’ve been to, but it was just average. Autumn had fun & collected a lot of candy that was thrown out to the crowds, so I guess in that sense I’m glad we braved the cold.
We were both hungry for some substantial food by this point, and I had heard them mention in the parade that there was a restaurant in town called “The Malt Shop.” So, we went to check it out. It’s a cute little place that you just drive up to, park, walk up to the window, place your order, sit & wait in your car until it’s ready, & then go get your food when they call your name.
They had a little barn type structure next to the Malt Shop w/ some picnic tables set up inside where you could eat. But, it was too stinkin’ cold, so we just ate in the car and talked. As you can see, Autumn was in a silly mood. I thought it was SO CUTE that the kid’s meal comes in this pink Cadillac convertible box. The shakes were pretty good, but we weren’t impressed w/ the corn dogs or fries.
After all that fun, we went out to Sam Moon’s b/c we haven’t been there in forever. Plus, we needed to pick up some cute & cheap headbands for Autumn since that’s all she wears now that her hair is short. We saw these Indian earrings & had to get them b/c they’re Autumn’s “peeps” as she likes to say. We found a few other things, and I was reminded why I don’t go there very often … I could easily spend a lot of money in there!
Mom & Dad were coming home from their Bahamas Cruise today, and the weather had gotten warmer & the wind had died down, so Autumn & I went around gathering up some of their tree branches that had fallen during the ice storm last week. There were a few that were way too big for Autumn & I to drag to the front yard where we were stock piling them. But, we did get most of them. Autumn was super impressed that I was able to carry this big branch all by myself, so she got my phone & took some pics. LOL.
I like this one of our shadows pulling along a big branch. She was a good little helper & my favorite part was when she would hold my hand as we walked to the backyard to get another branch to pull to the front. We’re SO GLAD that Mom & Dad are home safely! Autumn was such a rotten little stinker tonight b/c she was tired, so we came home & I put her right to bed since she had been up late last night. I’m going to start listening to the parenting CD’s I have on my commute to & from work again, b/c she’s getting out of hand w/ her sassy attitude & no one wants to be around her when she’s like that.
