Work Party & The Help

Rosy Posy is such a silly elf!  It looks like she was trying to get her craft on & got stuck in the washi tape.  Autumn was so excited to see this and exclaimed, “Mom, look!  She must like arts & crafts just like me.  We have a self-to-self connection!”  Ah, the innocence & joys of childhood!

Today at work I was super busy b/c between answering the phones, I was busy setting up for our 2nd Annual Company Christmas Party.  We had tables & chairs & tablecloths delivered, and we just used the same decorations from last year.  It came together so much easier this year.  It’s always good to meet people face-to-face that I only know via emails.

They had everyone go around the room & introduce themselves.  When they got to me, Ralph & Tom had me come up to the front of the room & gave me this beautiful bouquet of flowers.  Everyone was clapping for me, and my cheeks were bright red b/c I blush really easily.  I feel a little bad, b/c everyone that works here is great & is a hard worker.  But I think that they singled me out b/c I’m kind of the “hub of the wheel” that keeps everything together.  It was so nice to be recognized for all of the hard work I do, and it was greatly appreciated. 

After we had our company meeting, it was time to party.  We had invited a bunch of vendors we use & clients, so we had the meal catered by a local BBQ place.  It was really good and my only small complaint was that the brisket was really peppery.  But everyone seemed to enjoy the food, desserts, & especially the open bar!  People can get so crazy when they drink!

The party was still going strong at 8:30, but I had to leave and go get Autumn.  Liz was an angel & went & picked her up from daycare for me, took Autumn & Jacob to Wendy’s & then to Kid Mania!  She’s such a great friend.  We didn’t get home until 9:30, and I put her to bed right away so she won’t be a grouchy girl tomorrow.  I had a hankerin’ to watch “The Help”, so I popped it in and posted this pic on Facebook.

I got a message from Tencha saying that she’s been wanting to watch this movie for months, but she hasn’t been able to check it out at the library.  So, she came over & we watched it together.  It was so fun to do an impromptu & low key party.  We sat & talked for a little bit after the movie & I didn’t crawl into bed until 1:30 am!!!
