Temple, Laurels, Baby Shower & Annie

IMG_2274 Today was jam packed w/ non-stop fun.  I got up this morning to go to the temple, but I couldn’t find my temple recommend (I am glad I always check to make sure I have it before I leave the house).  I emptied out my temple bag & my purse, which are the only 2 places I keep my temple recommend.  I had planned on going to the 7:00 session, but wasn’t going to make it to that b/c I couldn’t find my recommend.  I kept saying a prayer in my heart over and over that I would find it.  By this time, Autumn woke up and wanted me to put on some cartoons for her.  We said a prayer that I would find it, and I decided to check my temple bag one more time, even though I had already emptied it out.  Wouldn’t you know … there it was on the bottom of the bag in a place I had already checked at least twice!  I’m so thankful Autumn was awake for that, b/c I was able to teach her about how we can pray to Heavenly Father for help & that He wants to help us & that we need to make sure to say a prayer of thanks when He does help us!

I was really hoping to see the new temple video, but they showed the “old” new one, even though we didn’t have anyone in the session that needed to listen to it on the headsets in a different language.  Mom said they’ve had people call the temple & say that if they get there & don’t get to see the new movie, that they will get up and walk out!!! REALLY!?!?!?  They are coming to the temple for the wrong reason!

I left as soon as the session was over so I could get home in time for a 10:00 meeting w/ Sis. Lee.  She came over so we could talk about the Laurels in our class and what their spiritual gifts are and what we can do to help them develop those gifts.  I’m so thankful for her, her insights, the way she follows the Spirit, and the love she has for these Young Women.  I’m am so blessed to get the chance to serve with her.  I just love & appreciate her so much!

P1110483 As soon as we were done, I went over to pick up Liz at 12:30 so we could go to Alison’s baby shower.  Her due date is Tuesday, and I’m happy we were there to celebrate her & their soon to be son.  Her sisters hosted it & had fun games for us to play w/ prizes.  They also had a delicious spread of all sorts of savory & sweet treats.  Liz was oohing and aahing about the apple dip they had.  Xela (Alison’s sister) was willing to share it with us:

  • 1 (8 oz) pkg cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 c packed light brown sugar
  • 1/4 c white granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 3/4 c toffee (Skor or Heath) bits

P1110485 We were there until 3:30, and I dropped Liz off at home, and then I went over to Mom & Dad’s.  Mom surprised us w/ tickets to the local high school’s play of Annie tonight.  She had originally gotten 4 tickets and then got 2 more b/c she thought Nick was going to bring a date (he went on a double date earlier today).  But, she couldn’t come tonight so I called Liz & she came w/ us.

P1110484They did such a fabulous job!  We especially liked Gracie’s performance as Grace (Mr. Warbuck’s secretary).  She has such a beautiful voice & was perfect for the part.  I’m so glad that we have such an amazing & talented theater program at the 2 local high schools.  We didn’t get home until 10:00, and I had Autumn go straight to bed, and I went to bed not long after b/c I had such an early & full day.

I’m thankful for days like this where I’m busy, but it’s full of good & happy & meaningful things!
