Farewell, Utah! Howdy, Texas!

IMG_5607 I got cleaned up this morning, and of course I wasn’t able to get my hair to look the way Jana & Josh styled it for me!  I got my suitcase all packed up and ready to go.  Nate wanted to get out of the house, so we drove over towards BYU to try out the “famous” Swig sugar cookies.  They were ok, but nothing I’d go out of my way to get again.  Their drinks, however, were super good.  Nate got the Texas Tab (Dr. Pepper w/ coconut & vanilla syrup) & I got Mt. Dew w/ mango puree!!!  Thumbs up for the drinks.  Then we went over to the Riverwoods to see if they had any salt water taffy at one of the stores, but they didn’t.

IMG_3812 We went back to Rufio’s to load the suitcases into the cars.  The sisters were in Rufio’s bedroom dividing up some more of Rufio’s stuff.  I had to get a picture of her apartment and her recliner she always sat in.

IMG_3820 Grandpa Johnson will be in the rehab center for a while, so Dad wanted me to get a picture of the farm for us to frame so he can have it to look at.  We walked down to the farm & it was raining.

IMG_3827 Dad has had so many stories & memories he could tell us about this farm.  He told us about one time when he & Mom were dating and they had just gathered a bunch of fresh eggs.  One of the cows walked up behind her and she thought that Dad had nudged it over by her and she got scared so she threw the fresh eggs at him!!! LOL!

IMG_3853 Dad & I went to the rehab center to visit Grandpa.  Uncle Wes was there & he and Dad mostly talked while Grandpa slept.  I hope he recovers quickly and can go home soon.  It was good to see him.

IMG_5609 Mom & Nate got to the airport way before we did, and Nate was able to get all of our luggage on for free again w/ his military ID.  We HAD to stop at Cafe Rio for dinner.

IMG_5615We were supposed to fly to Houston at 4:30 and then from there fly home to Dallas.  But, our flight was going to be delayed by at least 2 hours, and we would have missed our connection.  So, United had us fly home on Delta.  The flight didn’t leave until 8:00, but at least we would get home and not have to stay in Houston overnight.  It ended up being great b/c we got to sit in the exit rows w/out an upcharge, which was so super nice.  Plus, Brian (Curt & Mary’s son) was on our flight, and so was one of my Young Women from last year that is now attending BYU!  I LOVE the exit row b/c I was able to stretch out my legs, plus no one sat in the middle seat so I had even more room.  Thank you, Delta!

We got home at 11:30 and Britt came & picked us up in his van.  He & Lori had been at the state football championships at Cowboy’s Stadium and our team won again for the 3rd year in a row!  GO EAGLES!!!
