We got up early this morning (5:00 am) so we could leave at 5:30 and make it up to SLC to attend the 7:00 session at the Salt Lake Temple. They do “live” sessions (with live actors saying the parts instead of just watching a video) at the SLC temple. It’s cool b/c you get to move into different rooms, too. I’m so glad we were able to do that together. I am truly “born of goodly parents.”
This is such a BEAUTIFUL temple both on the inside and the outside. The last time I did a live session here was right before I went on my mission back in 2002.
It’s never good to have someone shoot up at you, b/c it’s an unflattering angle. But, we were so thankful that a lady walking by offered to take a picture of the three of us.
Still so in love, even after 37 years.
The SLC temple has so many cool details on it.
We got back from the temple and then we went to lunch together at Rumbi Grill. I love that place, and used to take Rufio there to eat. Their sweet potato fries are delicious. After that Mom & Jeri & Nate & I went shopping at Seagull Bookstore & Deseret Book, b/c they have lots of cool LDS products that we can’t get in Texas. Then we went to Shopko and I ended up getting 2 new pairs of shoes.
We came home and everyone got ready for Rufio’s viewing. The reason the 4 sisters are wearing the same outfits is b/c Rufio used to make matching dresses for them Easter & Christmas. Plus, purple is Rufio’s favorite color. I think they look so beautiful!
You can’t really tell in this picture, but even Rufio’s casket is purple! They had her viewing set up so nicely!
The 4 girls & 3 son-in-laws
Jeri & (Dave), Rick & Jill, Lisa & Kerry, Jana & Keith
This is one of my favorite pictures, b/c it’s all 4 girls standing next to the Senior pictures and holding their baby pictures. It was neat to see lots of old photos on display.
There is a tender mercy story behind this. Jill & Jana had gone down to the mortuary to turn in the program information & pictures. The mortuary scanned the pictures, but the baby picture wasn’t an original and turned out like the one on the left. They said we had to have the original. So, Jill & Jana went back to the house and turned Rufio’s apartment upside down trying to find the original. They had given up hope and were just going to take the baby picture off the program, but they had a feeling to look in one last box inside of a small envelope. And there was the original baby picture!!! They also found my favorite one of Grandma & Grandpa that they were able to include on the back of the program.
She has been such a beautiful person her whole life!!!
Deb texted me these pics from Autumn’s class party. This was a “build a snowman game.”
Then they took Autumn home w/ them and they had the missionaries over for dinner and then went caroling and delivered cookies! I have been so incredibly thankful for such fabulous friends that have loved her as their own and taken such good care of her.
