Park, Plan, Pie

IMG_7004 Today at Activity Days the leaders took the girls out geocaching. One of the leaders had planted 5 different clues around that went with scriptures. The girls had so much fun running from one location to the next and finding the next clue.

IMG_7006 The clues actually led to 2 treasures. One was a wooden treasure chest and one was a plastic diaper wipes container. They brought both boxes back to the church and looked at the contents. Inside the treasure chest are the things that are truly important in this life. For example they were a high school diploma (education), scriptures, a picture of the leader’s family, a picture of the temple, etc. Then in the plastic box were some fun treasures like chocolate, necklaces, rings, etc. that the leader handed out to the girls to remind them of this lesson.

IMG_7010  We took Jessica home and then had to stop at this house in their neighborhood to get pictures of these GORGEOUS white & purple iris. It amazes me how some of the petals can be one color and the others are a different color. Nature is so fascinating. This picture and the one below are SOOC (straight out of camera) taken with my iPhone 4, no filters, no editing, just completely natural!

IMG_7021Tonight for YW the Laurel’s class presidency had nothing planned b/c we haven’t met as a presidency in a while. No one even bothered to call me and ask what we were doing tonight. I was half tempted to just show up and say we weren’t doing anything. It frustrates me that I’m the one doing all the work, when really it is THEIR program. It’s my own fault though, b/c I’m not making them do it. I’m doing too much and need to have them do more. Even if it isn’t done the way I would do it, it’s a learning opportunity. OK, my rant is over.

Tonight we did Park, Planning, & Pie. We went to the nearby park to do some service and pick up trash. The park was surprisingly clean. The girls did find a few plastic bags in the pond that they fished out (pun intended). After the park we went back to the church to plan out our activities for the next few months. At the end of the night we had key lime pie.

Those iris are gorgeous! Nature is truly amazing. I understand your rant about YW. It is hard. Hope all is well with you and your mom and dad on their mission!
