I stayed up way too late last night, which is bad b/c I didn't get to sleep in today. I woke up at 7:00 so I could get ready, get Autumn up, and be on the road by 7:30. Nick & Savi (his girlfriend) got tickets to Comic Con in downtown Dallas. There is NO WAY I was letting him drive to the middle of downtown Dallas when he won't even drive our freeways close to home. So, Autumn & I gave them a ride but Savi wanted to stop and have breakfast first so we could spend time together and talk. The only place we found open so early was at McDonald's. She's an incredibly sweet girl and I like her a lot, but just wonder where this relationship between her & Nick will end up.
Luckily by the time we got close to downtown Dallas the torrential downpour was letting up and it was just sprinkling. We dropped them off and then Autumn & I went to the Dallas temple since we would be driving past the area. Pretty girl & a pretty building.
I told her to stand normally, and this is what she did. She always has to be striking a pose.
We sat in the lobby for a little bit and talked about what goes on in the temple and why it's so important. Then we each found a spot outside to sit and write in our journals. I loved how she had her shoes off, her feet tucked up under her, and her hair covering her face. Sometimes I forget that she's still just a little girl.
It started to sprinkle, so we went and saw under an awning and shared our thoughts about the temple. I even gave her a necklace w/ a temple charm on it and shared my testimony about the importance of the temple. I look forward to the day she turns 12 and we can be in the temple together. She also shared with me some very sweet & insightful things that she had written in her journal.
We came home and watched a little TV. Next thing I know, she was sound asleep from being up so late last night. I called and talked to Mom & Dad for an hour, and when I was done I looked over to see Autumn like this (still fast asleep) w/ her hand over her ear. I guess I was talking too loud. LOL!
She slept for FOUR hours! We got cleaned up at 5:30, ran by the grocery store to get some treats, and went to the local high school's theater to see Lauren (one of my Young Women) perform w/ her dance group. We stayed for all of the performances, and were impressed by all the talent that was shown. Nate went and picked up Savi & Nick and brought them home.
It was a great day, but I am more than ready for bed! I can't stay up all hours of the night like I used to in college. I must be getting old ...
