Laser Show & Christmas Tree Lighting

IMG_0192I ran into Nate & Olivia in the hall at daycare when I was going to pick up Autumn. They came down to Autumn’s room w/ me and we walked out to the parking lot together. This picture just makes me melt. Autumn is such a good older cousin, and Olivia is just so stinkin’ cute. That blue jacket she’s wearing is one of Autumn’s hand-me-downs and it makes me so happy to see Olivia wearing it. It brings back such great memories of when Autumn was that age.

P1130461 Autumn & I went to dinner at Taco Cabana to share a cabana bowl, drink, & sopaipillas w/ a dulce de leche dipping sauce. Then we headed to a local town’s tree lighting ceremony. We weren’t very prepared for the cold (it was 39 degrees w/ wind gusts) and should have gone home first and gotten some better clothes. They had some fun vendors around the downtown square, and Autumn especially loved this big churro costume.

P1130462 These soldiers on stilts were fun & super personable as they walked around and interacted w/ people.

IMG_0200 We stayed huddled close to keep from freezing while we waited. This was all supposed to have happened on Friday & Saturday but they had to reschedule to tonight b/c of the rains we had Friday & Saturday.

IMG_0215 First there was a cool laser show that they projected onto the side of the courthouse.

IMG_0225 Then it was time for the tree lighting. They had us count down from 10 and then they hit the switch. It’s a big tree that they flew in from Alaska.

IMG_0232 Someone was going around before the festivities started handing out coupons for free hot chocolate at one of the stores. So, after the tree lighting we made our way over there to get our free hot chocolate. It was SUPER creamy and chocolaty and was the perfect warm temperature (not too hot and not too cold). I also bought Autumn this big pink cupcake to give some business to the store that was doing the free hot chocolate. It was a cute cafe type place, so we’ll have to go back sometime and try their dinner menu. We sat outside and shared the cupcake and hot cocoa and then headed home. Next time we’ll be more prepared w/ warmer clothes and coats, but it was a great night together.
