Autumn & I got up at 7:00 this morning so we could come home, change clothes, and see if any young women came over. I had invited all of them to go to a "Feed The Homeless" service project with us. No one showed up, so Autumn & I left to make it there in time. We met up w/ Leslie (the lady in the blue turtleneck) that we worked w/ last time. Autumn was a great "runner" b/c we would tell her we needed more bread or meat or cheese and she would go get it for us. We were sandwich making machines and got a lot accomplished.
Look at all of these meals that were made to give to people that are homeless. This is such an amazing organization, and I'm thankful to them for providing an opportunity for us to bring our children to serve alongside us. I think it's so important for Autumn to learn now the value of serving others.
We had nothing else planned until this evening so we cleaned the house, relaxed, did laundry, and watched TV.
We went over to the church at 6:30 b/c Mary & her siblings were throwing a surprise 50th Wedding Anniversary for her parents. We got there a little early to help, but already had most of it set up and ready to go. It was cute to see the little great grandkids trying to sneak a piece of the cake while they thought no one was looking.
We were all quiet and when they walked in we flipped on the lights and yelled "SURPRISE!" They had no clue and were completely shocked. They both teared up and were crying to see so many family and friends there.
I even cried a few tears too, b/c the love and Spirit in the room were so strong. Bill & Virginia are such special and salt of the Earth people. Plus, they've lived in this area for forever, so they know lots and lots of people. It was cute to see their reaction to everything and everyone as they walked around the room.
