Autumn & I got up this morning and had a poppy seed muffin for breakfast, watched some TV, I edited pictures, and then we went and got ready for the day. We met up w/ Ashley & Bianca at something called the Beach Resort. They have all kinds of cool things that you can do there. We bought $4 passes for the girls to play in a 5 level jungle gym. They had this fun rock climbing wall and Autumn was like a little monkey.
The girls played so cute together and Autumn helped Bianca and made sure they stayed together. It was so fun to hear them laughing and running around and talking to each other. Ashley & I just sat and visited and caught up on the happenings in each other’s lives.
At 12:00 the girls came out of the jungle gym and said they were hungry. So, we packed them up and headed over to Magleby’s Fresh for lunch. I used to eat there when I worked in that area and I forgot how good their food is. Autumn & I shared a stuffed breadstick and they had the yummiest fries!
After we ate, we went back to the Beach Resort so the girls could play some more and get our full $4 worth. LOL! They had this bike rack out front in the shape of a shark, and Autumn tried planking on it, but she said it hurt too much to lay on the “ribs”. I think this is such a cute picture of the girls together.
We went inside and Bianca took us over to this surfboard so we could get some cool pictures. They were laughing and having such a good time pretending to surf. I love it that they are both so good at hamming it up when it comes to taking pictures.
I had them sit on a big staircase so I could get a normal pic of the 2 of them together. They are just too adorable for words!
After they ran around for another hour, they were done playing. Plus, Autumn kept trying to run away from Bianca instead of playing w/ her. So, we took the girls downstairs and got some Blue Bell ice cream. They had the most adorable 50’s ice cream parlor set up.
The girls were so cute w/ each other and kept giving each other “the eye”. They would put their foreheads together and look each other in the eye and then bust up laughing.
They had a photo booth there, and I really wanted to get a film strip of the girls. The first time we tried it, 3 of the 4 pictures were really blurry. So, Ashley went and showed a manager and they put the $ back on my card so we could try again, which I thought was super nice of them to do. In the meantime, I had $2 left on the card so we took the girls over to ride the carousel.
They got the photo booth fixed so we went and had the girls take pics again. They couldn’t figure out that they had to sit up on their knees to be in the frame of the picture, and they kept looking at themselves on the screen instead of up at the camera. Oh, well. I’ll have to scan and post the pics here when I have my scanner.
It was already 3:30 at this point and we all had to get going. I am SO GLAD we got to spend the day w/ Ashley & Bianca. It seems like not very long ago they were visiting us in Texas, but that was actually 2 years ago! Bianca wasn’t even walking yet and now she’s so grown up. I’m glad the girls got to create some memories together.
We left and went to run some errands. We stopped and got some Little Caesar’s pizzas for dinner to take to Jason & Nicole’s, then we walked around Quilted Bear really fast, ran by K-Mart, and stopped at The Sweet Tooth Fairy to try their Va-NIE-lla cupcakes. Ever since I read about them on Nie Nie’s blog, I knew I had to try one when I was in Utah. I have to say, I think it was overpriced, but it was still a really really good cupcake. Plus, their little shop is so quaint and cute and now I can say I’ve had the Va-NIE-lla cupcake.
We went over to Jason & Nicole’s at 5:00 to have dinner w/ them and let Autumn play w/ the kids one more time before we have to leave. The girls were having a pizza picnic party and Khloe wanted in on all the fun. She’s so little and cute, and I’m glad I captured this picture of her b/c she is always moving and on the go.
We only stayed for an hour b/c we needed to head home and start packing up all of our stuff. It was so good for Autumn to spend time w/ her Dad & siblings. Now she’ll have her own stories to tell (instead of making them up) at school & church when other kids are talking about their Dads or siblings. I’m so thankful to Jason & Nicole & the kids for making her feel so loved and welcomed and included.
When we got back to Aunt Jill’s, we had to lay down in the grass and enjoy it, b/c we don’t have grass like this in Texas. The grass in Utah is like carpet and we love it.
While we were at Quilted Bear, I turned a corner to go down an aisle and let out a gasp and started doing a happy dance right there in the aisle. One booth had these fancy silk pajamas w/ a nylon robe. It was my favorite one from childhood and I wish Mom had saved it for me so Autumn could wear it, but it was so old and worn out b/c I would wear it ALL.THE.TIME. Anyways, when I saw that there were some in this booth I knew I had to get one for Autumn. They didn’t have red, but I thought this blue one would look good w/ Autumn’s beautiful dark skin. She tried it on and thought she was the Queen of Sheba. We’re both 5 years old in these pics and it thrills me that Autumn now has her own fancy nightgown and robe like I had as a girl.
We spent some time w/ Rufio since we have to leave super early in the morning. It was so cute to see her & Autumn talking and playing w/ this stuffed bunny. It warms my heart to know that Autumn will have memories (and hopefully lots more to come) of her Great Grandma Rufio.
Autumn wanted to show her new nightgown to Aunt Jill & Uncle Rick. She couldn’t stop holding up her robe and dancing and spinning around. I was in the bathroom brushing my teeth and looked out in the hall to see her admiring herself in the mirror. That nightgown & robe were worth every penny. I got her to bed and packed our suitcases and edited pictures for a while. Our time in Utah has been so fun and I’m sad it’s coming to an end.
