Everyone got up bright & early this morning, b/c we were all so excited for the first day of school. This year we have a 10th & 5th grader!
I can't believe how much my baby has grown over the years! FIFTH grade!?!?!? How did that even happen??? She was just going into Kindergarten a few weeks ago!
I'm so excited for Spencer and all the great things that high school will bring to him this year.

Mother & Daughter
We all went & dropped Autumn off at her classroom, and then we headed over to the high school. That's where the adventure began! We hadn't registered Spencer yet, b/c we weren't 100% sure that he'd be able to come & live w/ us full time during the school year. I called the enrollment center before we got there, and they said they were so swamped that we needed to wait & come back at 10:30.
So, we went and had a breakfast taco and then went home to wait for a little bit. Frank trimmed some more bushes out front, and then we hopped in the truck and went to Costco. Spencer didn't have a backpack yet, so we got one there since they're really sturdy and a great price. We also grabbed some chips & fruit snacks & granola bars for lunches & after school snacks.
We went back to the high school at 10:30 & waited for 30 minutes to get him enrolled. Luckily, the lady that enrolled us is good family friends w/ my parents. She was super helpful and I was organized and had all the paperwork we needed, so it went pretty fast.
The high school is so big that the students are divided up alphabetically into SEVEN different sections. Each section has it's own guidance counselor, principal, & attendance secretary! We met w/ his guidance counselor, who got him enrolled into all of his classes. We said our goodbyes, & his "pal" (an upper classman assigned to help the incoming sophomores find their way around) took him to the lunch room to eat & then off to class!
Frank took me home & we both hurried and headed our separate ways to go to work. It was noon by this point, but it was one of those things that HAD to get done!!! I'm glad Spencer is enrolled and that the whole process went so smoothly.
Tonight we came home, ate dinner, and then Stephanie came over to go over the visiting teaching board & changes. We went in my room so we could talk privately about confidential things. Then Elder S came by to say goodbye, b/c he leaves to go back home on Wednesday. We'll miss him! He was a MARVELOUS missionary!!!
Frank wasn't feeling well, so he stayed home to rest while I took the kids to the store to get a few things (like binders) that they needed for school. Both kids said that their first day was a little stressful w/ learning where to go to their different classes. But they were both excited & happy to be back in a school schedule.
