Ward Talent Show & Chili Cook Off

Luckily I got off work early today so I could hurry & run some last minute errands before the ward talent show. I was in charge of organizing the food part. I got over to the church to put out tablecloths and got a notice on my phone that we were under a tornado warning. Of course I went outside to check it out. Look at this circular cloud forming above the church! Luckily it never materialized into a tornado but the skies were foreboding.

We did end up getting A LOT of hail, though!

Inside the church, some of the kids were freaking out & decided they should hide under the stage if a tornado actually passed through.

This was some crazy looking hail! I put it next to a nickel (I didn't have a quarter) for size comparison. Luckily, it didn't damage any of the cars at the church.

The talent show & chili cook off got off to a bit of a late start due to the bad weather, but it ended up being a great night. We had a lot of food to go around, and a lot of fun acts. These 8 year old boys did a super funny dance to a unicorn song & this kid was ROCKIN' the worm!

There was a wide variety of acts including each auxiliary doing a lip sync. The final performance was the Primary lip syncing to the song from Trolls. Frank even performed a solo to "Where Corn Don't Grow." I wish I could upload the video, but the file is way too big. He did a GREAT job and got SEVERAL compliments after his performance.

For the chili cook off portion, we had the Bishopric act as judges. We got some muffin tins & put just a bite of each chili in each well. The winner got this $10 gift card to Chili's & the top 3 winners got this "trophy." It's just a glass from the $1 store turned upside down w/ a bottle of Peptobismal glued to the bottom of it. People got a kick out of it and said it was a really fun night. I appreciate everyone putting away chairs & tables after it was over.

We got home, I laid down on the bed to rest for a few minutes, and I almost couldn't get up. My hips hurt SO BAD from waddling around all night. I haven't walked that much in a long time & my body was protesting. I'm thankful the weather cooperated & that it all went off without a hitch. FUN NIGHT!
