Frank's Neck/Back Surgery

Today was a big day for Frank. His doctor that put in his neurostimulator said he wanted to get an idea of all of Frank's back issues so he ordered an MRI of his whole neck & back. Well, he discovered that Frank had 2 herniated discs between C5 & C7. They said they could do surgery last Monday, but Frank wanted to be able to enjoy Thanksgiving so he put it off to today. We went to the hospital with him, got him checked in, and then roamed the halls while they got him prepped. Once he was prepped we went back to wait w/ him, but Alisa was done being in the stroller and needed a nap. We gave him a love and headed home for her to nap. The hospital sent me texts to keep me in the loop.

He ended up having to spend the night just as a precaution, which he was NOT very happy about since he had been told it would just be an outpatient surgery. Mom & Dad are angels and came and stayed w/ Alisa & fed everyone dinner so I could be at the hospital w/ Frank for a while.

He has to wear this neck brace for at least 2 weeks and they told us it's a 4 - 6 week recovery. Dad had this same surgery and said it's rough. They had to go in through the front of his neck, move his throat out of the way, and put in the cadaver bone, plate, and screws to fuse his neck at those vertebrae. OUCH!

I finally headed home at 8:00 so I could get Alisa & everyone else settled and ready for bed. She had so much fun playing w/ Papa & Mimi.

Autumn loves to organize things (I wish she'd organize her room) and had folded & organized this big pile of laundry I had done of Alisa's new 3T sized clothes. That was a nice surprise to come home to.
