The Stockings Were Hung By the Chimney With Care

It's a tradition that started with Great Grandma Taft (Grandma Johnson's mom) of having a hand-sewn sequined Christmas stocking. She made Dad's, Mom's, mine, Lexie's, and Nick's. Then Mom made Nate's, Jon's, Andrew's, and Autumn's.

As you can see, mine is pretty small compared to the other's. When I was little, I was SO MAD that mine was so small, b/c I didn't understand that sometimes good things come in small packages (like expensive jewelry). I threw such a fit, that Grandma Johnson made me another one that was normal sized (it's not shown here). But now I absolutely LOVE my small stocking. And I love the one mom made for Autumn. It's PERFECT with all the pictures on it, b/c that's what I do to Autumn all the time...take her picture. I either need to have more kids quick so Grammy Lisa can make them Christmas stockings (not likely to happen anytime soon), or I need to learn how to sew them so I can make them for my grandkids. Anyways, it's a fun tradition that I'm glad we have.
