I got home at 2:30 am this morning, but Autumn was still up bright and early at 7:15 am. But, I surprisingly haven’t been tired today. We spent the morning doing our normal Saturday morning routine of watching the Disney Channel. She’s been on this kick lately where she likes playing w/ the tupperware. Luckily we skipped the phase where she pulled all the pots and pans out of the cupboards. I would much rather have her play w/ tupperware than pots and pans. Anyways, she had these 2 lids this morning and kept looking at me through them. I was trying to teach her which one was red and which one was blue, but I guess she wanted to see purple so she looked through both of them at the same time. What a kid.
I went and got my nails done at 11:00. It is my guilty pleasure that I treat myself to once a month. It’s hard to explain, but I just feel like a better me when my nails are done. I LOVE going and getting them done b/c it’s alone time for me and I love just sitting there and enjoying having them done. And the guy I go to does an AWESOME job. When my hands feel pretty, I feel pretty. Anyways, after I got my nails done I stopped in at WalMart to get some groceries for our Philly Cheese Steak Sandwiches for lunch.
While I was walking in, a lady was walking in at the same time and we were kind of far out in the parking lot, so she started up a conversation. She was saying the weather was so nice and she likes when it’s windy. I agreed w/ her and we just chit chatted for a minute. When we got close to the store she said, “Girl, have you been losing weight?” I was surprised by her question and told her that yeah, I actually had lost some weight. She said, “I can tell. Your pants look really baggy on you. Keep it up! You have a great day and God bless you.” By this time we were in the store and she got her cart and went her way and I got my cart and went my way. But, that totally made my day. She made my day so much brighter, even if she hadn’t said anything about me losing weight. She just had a huge smile on her face and was so personable and friendly. I need to be more like that. And I noticed that b/c of her I looked people in the eye when I was going up and down the aisles when I passed them and I would smile at them and most of them smiled back. What a good example she was to me and she definitely affected my life in a positive way and taught me a lesson today w/out even knowing she did.
I got home and we had our PCSS (Philly Cheese Steak Sandwiches) for lunch. SO GOOD! While I was at WalMart I walked past the video section and they had a bin full of DVD’s for $5. I saw the Sandlot in there and just HAD to buy it. We have it on VHS, but not DVD. And I LOVED that movie as a kid. Even to this day I’ll say, “You’re killing me, Smalls.” Anyways, Mom said that she had heard that video about 50 times but had never seen it. We used to have a big van w/ a TV in it, so she would hear it while she was driving, but never got to see it. So, we watched that while we ate our lunch. It’s such a cute movie and brings back so many fun memories.
After that, Autumn wanted to watch some ballroom dancing. So she went and found her ballerina skirt she got for her birthday and had me put it on her and then she danced around the living room w/ her dolls. What a cutie pie. When the song would end she would look at me and make the sign language sign for more.
While I was at WalMart I also bought a kite for $1. I LOVE flying kites and it was really windy today. So after Autumn had had enough of the ballroom dancing, we went outside and flew our kite in the backyard. It actually got up in the sky pretty high and she thought it was so fun.
The day was SO NICE outside. As you can tell, it was really overcast and windy, but it was nice and warm. I love days like today when the weather is stormy. It was fun that the kite had such a long tail on it so we could see it blowing in the breeze.
Nick made a comment and said we needed now was a key, b/c we had the kite and the stormy weather and we could be like Benjamin Franklin when he discovered static electricity. I thought it was ironic that a few minutes after he said that, this truck that said Benjamin Franklin on it pulled up to the neighbor’s house across the street. Kind of funny.
Autumn had so much fun being outside and playing on the fort and flying the kite and jumping on the trampoline. I love it when the weather is nice so we can spend time outside b/c she enjoys it so much.
For dinner tonight we stopped at Sonic and got big fountain drinks (we had a coupon) and then got mandarin chicken salads from Wendy’s. We were talking to Nate on the cell phone when Mom ordered and Nate said to get one more for him, which is funny b/c he’s in Idaho going to school. So I told him we would take a picture for him instead and that I would put it on my blog. LOL. We came home and watched Family Man (another $5 DVD find at WalMart). I LOVE LOVE LOVE that movie, b/c it has such a good message.
Anyways, today was just a very peaceful and happy and calm day. I love days like today where everything just seems OK w/ the world and I feel content. I love being out in nature and enjoying the gorgeous day that Heavenly Father created.
