Autumn woke up and had breakfast w/ Papa, which usually consists of cut up dates in cereal. He is growing a beard b/c he is going to be in the Book of Mormon pageant. Autumn isn’t too sure about his “scratchies” though.
Dad went out and was swimming, and Autumn decided she wanted to swim, too. If you look close, you can see the raindrops on the surface of the water. It has been raining a lot the past few days, which I LOVE. They didn’t mind the light rain at all, and still had a great time swimming.
Autumn & I went home and got cleaned up for the day. Mom came over and picked us up and we went over the outlet mall. We went to a perfume/cologne store to get some cologne for Dad’s birthday tomorrow. Autumn had fun walking around the store w/ her umbrella.
I let her hold my lip gloss to keep her happy and she kept pretending to put it on (I kept the cap on). She thought she was hot stuff.
The next stop of the day was at WalMart to get some groceries for Dad’s birthday dinner tomorrow. But, we stopped in and got something to eat at McDonald’s before shopping (it’s never a good idea to shop on an empty stomach). Autumn was really cute and liked playing w/ the Barbie toy she got. There was a cute little old grandpa sitting at a table by us and she kept waving at him. When we went to leave, he gave her a rose that he had made out of a napkin. It was so sweet! However, that’s where the cuteness and sweetness ends.
We walked around getting some groceries and we went over to the children’s section to see if there were any swimsuits on sale that I could buy for Autumn for next year. I was looking at some clothes and next thing I know, I turn around and Autumn is gone. Mom & I had to chase her up and down the aisles, so when we finally caught her I made her sit in the shopping cart. She threw a FIT! She was kicking and screaming at the top of her lungs. I ignored her, but people were starting to look at us and shake their heads like I was the worst mom ever. So, I took her out of the cart and took her outside. It was still lightly raining, and she decided that she was so mad that she took off her shoes and threw them into a puddle and then proceeded to take off her pants and also throw them in the puddle! This is a picture taken of her standing outside of WalMart!
I am SOOOO at a loss of what to do with her! Any suggestions? If we are at home, I just put her in time out and let her cry and scream all she wants. But, it’s so hard to discipline her when we’re in public b/c of disturbing other people and being judged by them. We went and stood by the car while waiting for Mom to finish getting the rest of the groceries. She was still kicking and screaming and even sat down in her diaper in a puddle. People walking into the store were looking at us wondering what the heck was going on, but I didn’t care. I am hoping she’ll grow out of this really fast. Any suggestions on how to discipline in public would be GREATLY appreciated!
We came back to Mom & Dad’s to unpack the groceries and put Autumn down for a nap (she didn’t take one, but she laid in on Mom & Dad’s bed and watched Pocahontas). We decided to make some 1 hour bread, so Mom & I made the dough and then wanted to do something different than just bread. Nate took some of the dough and made some pizza. He even threw the dough up in the air and everything.
Here’s his made-from-scratch pizza. The middle wasn’t quite cooked all the way b/c we used too much sauce, but it was still really good and we ate the whole thing.
We also made 2 loaves (and a little baby one for Autumn) w/ that same batch of bread dough. SO GOOD! We put butter and jam on it when it was fresh out of the oven. Such a comfort food.
And then the final thing we did w/ that same batch of bread dough was make a pan of cinnamon sticks and dipped them in cream cheese frosting. DELISH!!!
We just vegged out the rest of the night and watched football (GO COUGS) and spent time together. We even busted out some old home videos from back in 1992 when we lived in Washington. It was so cool. Nick & Nate were so little and it was just fun to watch. Curt & Mary came over for Dad to check Mary’s throat (she’s getting sick) and to say hi and see Autumn Bottom. Autumn loves her Uncle Curt. It was a busy but fun day (except for when Autumn had her melt down).
