Today after work, we came home and cooked up some of the squash & zucchini that Mary & Curt gave us. Then at 7:00 we went over to Christine’s so I could help her some more. Autumn LOVES spending time w/ Christine’s kids b/c they pay attention to her and keep her entertained. I was working away when there was a knock at the door and it was Mom! She came over to get Autumn for me to take her home so she could go to bed on time tonight (since last night she was up late and was a BEAR this morning). We went to find Autumn and found her and Hailey doing finger paints at the kitchen table. Christine is such a good Mom, b/c I would never let my kids do that…too messy and I hate cleaning up messes.
Anyways, Mom took her home and Christine and I worked until 10:00 and got a lot done. Autumn had brought this rose to me earlier before she left, and it was SO FRAGRANT and beautiful. Looking at this rose made me feel like it was Mother’s Day all over again, b/c I was so thankful today for being a mother and for the great mothers I have in my life.
First of all, Christine is such an incredible example to me of a single Mom. Her home is beautiful and super clean for having 7 kids and working full time. She always makes amazing meals. She’s such a fun person and draws people to her by her great personality. Everything she does is successful and is always done well. She expects the best and always gives the best. I seriously hope I can be more like her, b/c I admire her so much!
The second Mom I am thankful for tonight is my Mom. That was such a small but meaningful act of service she did for me. It meant so much b/c I was able to work w/out getting interrupted by Autumn coming to show me something she had drawn or found or done. Then when I got home, Mom was still here and was laying in my bed w/ Autumn trying to get her to go to sleep. But, Autumn was NOT tired even though it was late. So, we made an Autumn sandwich (she was laying between Mom & I) and Mom & I just laid there and talked for about an hour. I am so lucky to have her for my Mom. We get along so well and are good friends, not just Mother & Daughter. She makes things so comfortable and nice for everyone and makes sure we’re all happy and doing well. It was so fun to just lay there and talk as if we didn’t have a care in the world.
The third Mother I was thankful for was that I get to be Autumn’s Mom. Not that I’m a great Mom, but the fact that I get to be a Mom. I have learned so much about my own weaknesses and things I need to do to improve myself. I love that no matter what happens she loves me unconditionally and is the brightest spot in my life.
