Super Yummy Treats

IMG_6688 Today at work was really good and I stayed busy, which is always good.  I got Autumn from daycare and we went over to Mom & Dad’s really quick so she could change into her swimming suit.  Uncle Kerry & Aunt Tafta had just gotten back from the store and they had enlisted Lexie to help them cut up the fruit for dinner while they cut up the stuff for fajitas.

IMG_6690 Autumn & I went to her swim lessons and then came home and ate some of the delicious dinner that had been prepared.  We are so spoiled and so lucky.  The fajitas were super tasty and the mixed fruit definitely deserved a second (or third) helping.  Mom got home from Utah today and I had begged and pleaded for her to bring home some Utah brown bread and some Utah truffles.  She definitely delivered and didn’t disappoint!

IMG_6693 Mom said she had a present from Melanie (my cousin’s wife).  I would link you to her blog, but it’s private.  Anyways, she makes and sells bows and told Mom to pick some bows for Autumn to have, which was SO NICE of her.  Here they are, and I think they are adorable, and Autumn loved them.
THANK YOU SO MUCH, MELANIE!!!

IMG_6694 Andrew was a little sad b/c he didn’t get a present from Mimi (bows aren’t really good for little boys), so Dad disappeared into his closet and came back out w/ this hat for Andrew and said that Mimi got this cool present for him from Utah.  He loved it, and I thought that was cute of Dad to do.

IMG_6695 Why can’t I get Autumn to “help” me fold laundry like she helped Aunt Tafta?  Oh yeah…b/c I am too anal and don’t like it when Autumn “helps” b/c it ends up messier than when I started.  But, Aunt Tafta is so loving and patient and kind and welcomed Autumn’s help.  I need to learn from her example and let Autumn be more involved.

IMG_6697 After letting our full bellies digest our dinner for a little bit, we went outside to swim.  Poor Uncle Kerry tried putting sunscreen on his back today and in this picture you can definitely see where he missed!

IMG_6701 We were out swimming and having fun when I noticed a bug on Dad’s face.  I screamed and he swatted it off.  Well, that pesky bug kept coming back over and over and over.  Finally Dad was able to kill it.  I know this picture is dark and hard to see, but it was a huge horse fly!  I’m glad he finally killed it so it would leave us alone.

IMG_6702 The kids LOVED swimming tonight and are doing such a good job.  We practiced all of the things they are learning in their swim lessons.  They have started putting their face in the water a lot more (which is a huge improvement for Autumn).  And both of them jumped off the diving board about 8 times each tonight, which is a huge step forward.  Usually they have a fit if we even suggest it, but tonight they were all for it.  They’ve come a long way in just two weeks.

IMG_6706 After it got dark, we came in and Aunt Tafta made us all some strawberry shortcake for dessert.  It was just a slice of angel food cake, strawberries w/ a little sugar on them, and a dollop of whip cream.  She also had a sour cream cake.  The kids saw that and both wanted a piece.  Anytime Autumn sees a store-bought cake now, she thinks it’s a birthday cake b/c in the winter when we got iced in a few times Dad would bring her home a cake and let her put a candle on it and blow it out.

IMG_6708 Anyways, since Andrew’s birthday is at the end of the month and Uncle Kerry’s birthday was last week we decided to sing to them.  But then Autumn got sad so Aunt Tafta said that since there was a #1 candle on the cake (that’s all we could find), we could celebrate that Andrew is Papa’s #1 grandson & Autumn is Papa’s #1 granddaughter.  They were both up for celebrating that and blowing out the candle together.

IMG_6711 They were running around and then all of a sudden both climbed into the time out chair together and were just laughing and talking.  Andrew wouldn’t open his eyes b/c he didn’t want us taking his picture.  Too bad for him that Lexie & I are Mamarazzi’s!

Autumn said two really funny things today that surprised me.  When she woke up this morning, she came and climbed into bed w/ me and we were just laying there snuggling and she said all sweetly, “Mama (pause), you smell like a pee pee diaper.”  I laughed so hard b/c it was so unexpected.  I thought she was going to say, “Mama, I love you so much.”  She’s such a funny little bug.

Then on the drive home tonight she was just jabbering away in the backseat and talking about all different types of movies.  She started talking about The Princess & The Frog.  She always says, “the bad guy step on Ray,” but tonight after she said that she said, “that’s so not fair!”  I have never heard her say that before and it made me laugh b/c I wasn’t expecting her to say something like that.  It’s always an adventure w/ her around, and I love it!
