Long Day

IMG_3044 Today I had to work, b/c we took our mobile showroom to the Dallas Home Improvement Show. There weren’t as many vendors as I thought there would be, and there weren’t very many people walking around. It was pretty slow, and I don’t do well being on my feet all day b/c of my leg length discrepancy. But, there were a few good things about the day. One of the reasons it was so slow was b/c there was a bomb scare at a federal building a few blocks away, so they shut off all the streets around the convention center. But, once that was all figured out, they opened up the streets again and we got more traffic moving through the center.

The best part of the day, however, was that right across the aisle from us was a gorgeous display for a place called Brumley Gardens. They sell plants, nick knacks, jewelry, purses, etc. They had the coolest rain galoshes that looked like cowboy boots. Anyways, it’s run by a bunch of gay men, and I befriended one in particular. He was so funny and reminded me a lot of my best Brozin (brother/cousin), Josh. At the end of the show, he came over and brought me this candle that said “fearless” on it and said he thinks I’m fabulous and fearless. It made my day! I miss having a good gay guy in my life.

IMG_3046 The show got over at 6:00 and I was FAMISHED b/c I didn’t eat anything during the show since a little sandwich was $8!!! I am too cheap to spend money like that for something so small. Luckily, one of the guys had snuck in some mini Snickers bars that he shared, which were able to tide me over. I stopped on the way home and got a few tacos from Taco Bell and then put gas in my car and returned the two Red Box movies from last night, and then went over to Mom & Dad’s. Dad walked in a little bit after I did. He had been in Wichita Falls w/ Uncle Robert & Aunt Sandy to ride in the Hotter ‘N Hell Hundred. He is crazy and actually rode 100 miles!!! He’s always so good at everything he does. We were glad he was home safe and sound and that he didn’t pass out on the bike ride (b/c that happens a lot to bikers in this ride).

IMG_3049 Mom made some yummy chicken breasts wrapped in bacon that she had seen Paula Deen make, and they were super simple to make. Dad LOVED them (b/c I think his body was craving the protein after his 100 mile bike ride). We watched TV and got to talk to Nate. Autumn had been running around playing and laid down for just a minute for Mom to play with her hair, and she was OUT like a light within a few minutes. That girls likes to play hard and sleep hard. I finally woke her up and took her home so she could sleep in her own bed, and I was glad to be in my own bed and massage my aching feet with some yummy lotion before drifting off to sleep.
