11th Annual Pool Dip

IMG_0226 Today at work it was really slow, so I used a $20 gift card to Shutterfly that we got from Sears when we did our family portraits, and made an 8x8 book of my pictures of Slovenija.  It was nice to have a little stroll down memory lane and relive all of the great times I had while in Slovenija.

I came home (Dad had gone and gotten Autumn early from daycare) and helped Mom get ready for the Pool Party at 6:30.  Aunt Sandy found this big brown dragonfly hairclip in her car and gave it to me.  But, I don’t wear brown and could never pull the look off, so I asked Lexie if she wanted it and she put it in her hair and of course looked ADORABLE!

IMG_0228 Tyler got there early b/c he came straight from work.  He went in the back to change and came out wearing this!  Cowboy boots w/ socks and swim shorts and a t-shirt and a backpack.  It’s a good thing he’s already married, b/c I don’t know if he’d get any dates wearing this get up!

IMG_0229 The Berrett’s showed up and we all started laughing, b/c Nate & Bradley had on the same swim shorts, and it was totally unplanned.  Too funny.

IMG_0285We had a ton of food with rolls, meat, condiments, chips, salads, salsa, fruit, deviled eggs, and dessert.  I just noticed Autumn’s dress is tucked into her panties in this picture!  Whoops!  LOL!  We stuffed ourselves silly and then it was time for the Pool Dip.

IMG_0235 Nate & Evan came out wearing Speedos!  Crazy guys!  Maybe it’s an Air Force thing?

IMG_0237 Nate was first and went to jump off the board when all of a sudden, we heard a loud crack.  If you look closely, you can see the back of the board coming out of the ground.

IMG_0238 A few weeks ago, Dad replaced the diving board b/c the original one was all rusted and cracked and just not safe anymore.  Well, I guess the new one isn’t safe either.  He went to a lot of work to drill the concrete and use the right type of screws, but it obviously didn’t work.  I’m just thankful I wasn’t the one to break the diving board!

IMG_0241 Evan was a trooper and went in next.  Then we were teasing Dad when it was his turn and asking him where his Speedo was?  So, he just pulled his shorts up as much as he could and dove in.

IMG_0247 Nate was being funny and said he would go in w/ Brad so Brad wouldn’t be scared.  He said they had to hold hands since they were wearing the same shorts!  So silly.

IMG_0252 Kelsey & Gracie didn’t want to go in b/c the water was only 44 degrees.  But, they finally got up the courage and did it.

IMG_0257 Here’s our crew in the hot tub.  It felt like we had a ton of room in there this year, b/c there weren’t that many people.  We were just grateful to have the hot tub going at all, b/c it wasn’t working about 20 minutes before the party.  Dad & Uncle Robert went out and tinkered around w/ the equipment in the back and were finally able to get it working in time for the party (thank goodness)!  I love Kelsey’s raccoon eyes and big old smile.  We’re a crazy bunch, but we know how to have fun.

IMG_0258 Here are some the spectators that weren’t brave enough to get in this year.  Aunt Sandy & Uncle Robert watched Baby Peyton so Emily & Tyler could get in.

IMG_0260 Jocey & a friend stopped by for a little bit.  Lexie did get in later when Andrew kept asking, “Is my Mama going to get in?”

IMG_0261 Lori & Mom.  Mom manned the video camera for me and Britt took pictures.  He was a good photographer.

IMG_0262 Nate & Evan were quietly whispering to each other in the hot tub and got a little sparkle in their eye.  They said they were going to get out, but I knew better.  They went over and ambushed Jocey and threw her in the pool w/ her clothes and shoes on!  She was a good sport about it and rushed to get into the hot tub as fast as she could.

IMG_0269 After everyone who was going to get in had gotten in, we started the present opening.  Autumn waited patiently for her turn and was disappointed when she got a Star Trek figurine.

IMG_0271 Nate & Evan weren’t done w/ their scheming plans.  They ambushed Brad and took him out of the hot tub and threw him in the pool!  Poor Brad.

IMG_0275 Nick had to work until 7:00, so he was a good sport and jumped in when he got home (with a little “help” from Nate).  He’s usually the first one in the pool, but this year he was the last.  I thought this was a cool shot Britt got of him jumping into the hot tub.  We were all laughing so hard b/c Nick did the fastest doggy paddle we’ve ever seen.  It was hilarious.

IMG_0278 After all the presents were opened, Brad & Evan decided to gang up on Nate and throw him in the pool.  It took them and Nick & Dad & Jocey & I a good 2 minutes to finally get him into the pool.  He’s such a strong little bugger!  At one point he pretended that he hit his head on the side of the hot tub so they would quit trying to throw him in.  But it didn’t work and we eventually triumphed.

IMG_0282 I was surprised at how murky the water in the hot tub was.  We’re guessing it was from Jocey’s jeans b/c they were new.  The older kids stayed out in the hot tub and I brought dessert (trifle) out to them.

IMG_0283 Here are some of the sweet prizes people won.  I tried to spice things up this year by putting a $10 bill as one of the prizes in hopes that someone would challenge for it.  Gracie challenged Caleb for his 2 big chocolate bars, but that was it.  Oh, well.  We still had a blast and I’m pretty sure most of these gifts were left at Mom & Dad’s at the end of the night when everyone had gone home.

IMG_0284Curt came over to say hi and see what in the world was going on b/c we were being so loud and screaming when they were trying to throw Nate in the pool.  We tried talking him into jumping in the pool, but he wouldn’t.  He went in the house and got some food (we had TONS of left overs).  Autumn was glad to see him and gave him a big old hug and kiss.  I finally was able to tear Autumn away from playing w/ Shane & Caleb & Brooke & Andrew at 9:30 and took her home and we both fell right to sleep.
