Tonight on my way home from work, I had a feeling that I needed to go to the temple. That was good, since I needed to go twice this month anyways b/c I didn’t go in October. Nick said he would watch her for me so I could go, and luckily my tummy was feeling better and cooperating so I could actually sit through a session w/out having to go to the bathroom every 10 minutes. Nothing special happened at the temple, but it was still good to go and do the work for someone that has been waiting 216 years.
As I was walking out of the temple, I noticed this really cool old car and had to get a picture of it.
I got home and Mom & Dad had stopped by to see Autumn and bring Nick some Vietnamese food for dinner. The ninth day of Christmas gift was also waiting for me on the counter.
Nine ladies dancing would be too big a crowd,
Besides their music is way too loud.
We have for you Christmas songs,
That you can listen to all season long.
Mom & Dad left at 9:30 when I put Autumn to bed and then I went over to their house to get some curling ribbon and wrapping paper. I can’t believe that today it was 85 degrees! Can you believe it just three days before Christmas? My little snowman treat that I was making for Autumn’s class melted b/c it was so hot (just kidding, this is just a cookie that broke and I put some melted chocolate by it to make it look like it had melted).
I saw these on Holly’s blog (that she found HERE) and decided to make them for Autumn’s class party tomorrow. I had signed up to take cupcakes, but decided to make these instead b/c they were so cute. I will NOT be making these again. First of all, when I stuck the popsicle stick into the Oreo frosting (and I made sure to get double stuffed), the frosting broke all apart and wouldn’t hold. Then I couldn’t coat these in white chocolate b/c any pressure on the popsicle stick would make them fall apart. And, the Oreos in the chocolate would leave little black specks in the chocolate so it looked like dirty snow.
So, I just slapped some melted white chocolate on the front of the Oreo’s and called it good. Then I could barely hold the mini chocolate chips b/c they were so small and was tempted to get out tweezers to put them on for the eyes and mouth. The first few, I tried to make sure and put the mini chocolate chips tip down into the white chocolate so all you would see is the flat bottom of them, but that didn’t last long.
And finally, I only had a short window of opportunity to decorate the faces. If I did it too soon after putting on the white chocolate, then the mini chocolate chips would melt. If I waited too long, then the mini chocolate chips wouldn’t stick to the white chocolate. I guess I’m not just a cute/crafty type Mom. Oh, well. I kept going though, b/c I was bound and determined to make them b/c it was kind of expensive to buy all the stuff to make them.
After I finally figured out how to do them (and I gave up on being a perfectionist on these b/c 3 year olds don’t care how they look), I put them in the fridge to set the chocolate faster and then just put a sandwich baggie over each Oreo and tied it w/ some curling ribbon. B/c the sandwich baggies were so big, the excess plastic kind of made them look like ghosts instead of snowmen, but at this point it was 11:45 at night and I didn’t care. Again, 3 year olds are not going to be picky. I think they ended up OK but next year I’m for sure just going to make some cupcakes and throw some green and red sprinkles on top and call it good.
I realized I blogged about my Sony DCR-SX44 video camera Mom got me, but never put a picture of it. Here it is. It’s cool b/c the view finder can rotate 180 degrees. It also has a touch screen. I feel so high-tech when I use it.
It is so tiny that it fits in the palm of my hand. It has some crazy powerful zoom on it and can even take still pictures! I love it already and plan on using it A LOT (especially since it’s Christmas this week). It’s so light that it feels like a cell phone. Isn’t technology just incredible? Anyways, it’s now past midnight and I need to go to sleep.
