Dutch Ovens & Bad Haircuts

IMG_3801 This morning when we woke up, Autumn was feeling better and didn’t have a fever (she just had a low grade fever yesterday), so she went to “college” today.  Work was really busy today, which was good b/c the day went by fast and it was 2:30 before I even knew it.  We went over to Mom & Dad’s house after work/school and Autumn wanted to go outside after we ate.  Dad is so nice and goes out w/ her to play on the fort.  They came back in after a while and Dad said they were going to do a dutch oven cobbler.  So, we went out to our rocks in the backyard and got the charcoal going so it would be hot.

IMG_3805 He had to oil up the dutch oven b/c we hadn’t used it in so long.  It’s easy to make the cobbler.  You just put 2 cans of what ever type of pie filling you want (we used cherry) and then sprinkle a boxed cake mix (we used french vanilla) over the top of the pie filling.  Then you cut 1/2 a stick of butter into little tabs and place those all over the top of the cake mix.

IMG_3806 We took it out to the charcoals and they were nice and hot.  Dad said you put 2/3 of the charcoals on the bottom and the other 1/3 on the top.  We went out and checked it every 10-15 minutes until it was done (45 minutes total).  We kept saying how we can’t wait for Andrew to come up and do dutch oven with us.

IMG_3807 Autumn climbed up to the top of the fort and handed Dad a can of 7-Up and a bag of chips.  I asked why those were on top of the fort and he said earlier when they had gone out there, they had a little picnic and had forgotten them up there.  He’s such a fun Papa!

IMG_3809 After 45 minutes. the cobbler was done and I felt bad b/c we enjoyed it and Mom couldn’t have any b/c of her diabetes.  We told her just a few bites wouldn’t be bad for her but she has been so good and said no, she didn’t even want to try any b/c then she might be tempted to eat more than a few bites.  I’m so proud of her for taking such good care of herself.  After we ate our cobbler, we came home and brought Nick some dinner and cobbler.  I put Autumn in bed and then left to go over to Karri’s to watch the Bachelor Finale b/c Christine is gone for Spring Break.

IMG_3810Curt came w/ Mary this time (he’s been watching it at home) and I noticed at the bottom of his hat that his hair looked like it had been shaved.  I asked him what happened and he took of his hat and this mess is what I saw.  I  let out a yell and asked what happened.  He said that he had told his hockey kids if they win the championship, they could do whatever they wanted to his hair.  It was AWFUL and they even tried dyeing some of the patches blonde.

It was fun having Curt there for the finale.  I was surprised that Brad picked Emily, b/c I thought she was too good for him.  But then on the “After The Final Rose” show I was SHOCKED that Emily’s not the sweet person she appeared to be on the show.  I was also surprised that Chantal was so upset and cried so much when she saw him b/c she has a serious boyfriend!  She obviously still has major feelings for Brad if she was crying like that when she should have moved on past him w/ her new boyfriend. I thought that was cool that they had previous Bachleor/Bachelorette people come on that have successful relationships.  They had some good things to say.  I think a lot of couples that have been on the show don’t make it, b/c they never get in fights and don’t know how the other person handles stress and problems.  They also have real life set in w/ working and trying to be normal instead of going on fancy and over the top extravagant dates.  I hope they can work things out and if not, then hopefully they can move on and both find happiness.  I didn’t get home until 12:30, but it was totally worth it.
