My Lunch Date With Liz

Cartwheels This morning we woke up and of course Autumn wanted to watch Tangled for the 56th time.  Once Dad woke up, she wanted to show him her cartwheel.  There was a girl at McD’s last night that was doing cartwheels and Autumn kept trying to copy her.  Autumn would put her hands together, put them behind her head, and then just throw them (and herself) forward.  It was actually pretty funny but got even more comical when she enlisted Dad’s help.  I should get her in a dance or gymnastics class b/c she seems to enjoy it a lot.

P1020280 After all the excitement of cartwheels, Autumn wanted to go out in the garden and pick some peas w/ Papa.  She LOVES picking peas and eating them fresh from the vine.  How many 4 year olds get to do that?

P1020282 Then it was off to dig up a few potato plants b/c they were growing too close to the tomato plants.  There were just a few small red potatoes.  Autumn wasn’t too sure about the first few that she had to pull off the roots but she soon overcame that fear and wanted to dig them all up.

P1020286 To distract Autumn from wanting to dig up all the potatoes, he told her to go in the house and ask Mimi for a plastic sack to put beet greens in.  She came back out and helped hold the bag while Dad cut the beet greens w/ some scissors.

P1020290 We were even able to get Mimi in on the action, which is extremely rare.  She was willing to come out in the garden b/c it was nice and cool outside.  Dad & I were laughing about how Mom doesn’t get outside much b/c she got overly excited about a roly poly.  But, we were mostly happy that she would come spend time w/ us in the garden.  We went in the house and Mom fried up some onions and the few red potatoes we got out of the garden.  They were super good b/c they were so fresh.

P1020292 At 11:00, Liz came over so we could go on our lunch date.  She had sent me a text a few weeks ago and said she wanted to hang out while Liberty was at work.  So, we went to La Madeline for lunch.  She let me try her potato fritter and tomato soup.  That tomato soup is OUT.OF.THIS.WORLD good.  I could eat that stuff every single day and not get tired of it.  My food was super tasty as well.  Then we had some little fruit tarts for dessert.  I like the food there, but it’s too expensive for me to eat there very often.

After we ate and talked for a while, we went over to Old Navy to walk around and kill some time.  Liz tried on some dresses and pants and found the most adorable jacket for just $15.  After that, we went over to the theater and got some popcorn and a drink and went to wait in the theater for the movie to start.  We saw Soul Surfer and it was a really good and uplifting movie.  I even teared up a few times.

After the movie, Liz took me back to Mom & Dad’s house.  She couldn’t stay b/c she had to get home to Liberty & the puppies.  It was such a fun girl’s day out and Liz is such a good friend.  We always laugh and have a blast when we’re together.  Mom & Autumn were taking a nap so I took advantage of the free and quiet alone time to blog and watch some TV.  When Mom & Autumn woke up I took Autumn home so we could get some stuff done.

I was on a cleaning kick and turned on some music to jam out to while cleaning.  Autumn just danced around in the living room and played w/ her dolls.  I vacuumed the whole house, scrubbed Nick’s bathroom, scrubbed my bathroom, did some laundry, and cleaned up some clutter.  It felt so good to work up a sweat and make the house look nice.

IMG_2422 We had some pizza for dinner and then just hung out and watched TV.  Ashley called and asked if we could watch Avery so she and Jordan could go on a date.  I knew Autumn would love seeing Avery so I told her we would.  They came over and dropped him off at 9:00 and Autumn was so excited.  She wanted to hold him on her lap and feed him a bottle.

IMG_2424 Mom called at 10:15 and said that she was creeped out b/c her and Dad were sitting outside on the patio enjoying the lighting storm when they heard a frog start making that annoying noise.  Dad found it and then another one and another one.  He found 6 frogs total!  Mom told him to get rid of them.  So, I told him to come over so we could see them and we would go w/ him to the park to release them.

so dumb We went out to the truck and 4 of them had already escaped from the box and were hopping around (and peeing) in the back of the truck.  We loaded Autumn & Avery into the truck and Dad drove about 20 feet and stopped.  I asked him what he was doing and he said we were going to release them into the duck ponds by my house.  I started laughing so hard and said I was “so dumb, so dumb, so dumb” b/c I hadn’t even thought of releasing them in the duck ponds and thought we were going to the park.  There was no reason for me to insist that we put Avery in his car seat and strap him in…we could have all just walked to the duck ponds.  Oh, well.  It’s a funny story.

IMG_2427 Dad went to put the frogs all back into the box so he and Autumn could walk them over to let them go in the pond while I stayed by the truck w/ Avery.  Dad picked up these frogs and they were…um, well…. let’s just say they were “attached” and didn’t disconnect when he picked one of them up.  Guess there will lots of little tadpoles in the ponds soon.

IMG_2432 It was 10:45 already, so Dad went home and I put Autumn to bed and then sat and rocked Avery so he would go to sleep.  He finally fell asleep and that made the rest of the night w/ him crying worth it.  I love having a sleeping baby asleep on my chest.  It just doesn’t get much better than that.

IMG_2433After Ashley & Jordan came to pick him up, I ran to the store to get some gum and treats for my kids at church that didn’t get some last week b/c I hadn’t brought enough.  I also found some things that weren’t on my shopping list.  I couldn’t pass up these awesome cleaning Glam Gloves.  They remind me of a cleaning show on the BBC that I used to watch a lot where the 2 British ladies wear fancy cleaning gloves.  I also saw this giant bubble wand for just $1 and had to get it for Autumn.  I got home after midnight and went right to sleep since I have to be up early tomorrow to get ready for church.
