It was really hard to wake Autumn up this morning, b/c she had been up so late last night. But, we got ready and were able to make it to church on time. My kids were actually pretty good today and we were able to get through the lesson w/out me having to get on their case for being irreverent. Primary was good and I got a little choked up when the kids were singing Love Is Spoken Here. The Spirit is so strong when they sing.
We came home and changed clothes and went over to Mom & Dad’s. Mom had made a roast w/ carrots and potatoes and gravy. When I was at the store last night, I rented 2 movies from Redbox b/c it said if I rented one I could rent another for 50 cents. So, I rented Ondine b/c it looked like an interesting movie. It was a good movie w/ a good plot line, but we couldn’t understand 1/2 of what was said b/c of their thick accents. At one point we even tried to see if there was captioning that we could turn on to try to see what they were saying, but there wasn’t.
After that, we wanted to get out of the house so we went on a little drive to a place where I had seen a whole bunch of purple plants. They were in some really tall weeds and since Autumn’s been scratching her leg a lot b/c of some chigger bites, we decided against walking through the tall grass. We found another spot that was closer to home and had less tall grass and got out to take some pictures. This picture of Autumn makes me smile b/c of her cute little expression and how she has her finger pointed at me (she does this all the time).
We passed these beautiful wild flowers that were in someone’s front yard, so we turned around to go back and get a picture.
This flower stood out to me the most amongst the other wild flowers b/c of how delicate it is. It looks like it’s made out of paper and nature never ceases to amaze me. How can the outside petals be dark pink w/ a touch of white on the ends and the middle petal be a light pink all on the same flower? Gorgeous!
Autumn wanted to take one of the bull thistle blossoms home. I ‘m glad she did b/c I just held it up w/ the pool as a backdrop to get some pretty pictures. I like this one so much I think I might have it printed off in an 8x10 and frame it.
Autumn wanted to take it in the house and put it in some water, but when I took this picture of the underside, I noticed there were some little brown bugs living on it and decided Mimi wouldn’t want those in her house. So, we just kept it outside to enjoy.
Autumn was starting to get ornery, so I went in Mom & Dad’s room w/ her and we laid down to watch Tangled and both ended up falling asleep. It was so nice to get a little 45 minute nap. I woke up and let Autumn stay asleep for a while longer. Mom & I started the other movie I had rented from Red Box, which was Life As We Know It w/ Katherine Heigl and Josh Duhamel. It was a cute movie and I enjoyed watching it, but it’s not one I would buy.
Curt came over to see what we were doing and also to see if we had any food. Of course Mom fixed him a big plate of roast and carrots and potatoes and gravy. Then when Autumn finally woke up (that’s why she looks funny in this picture b/c she had just gotten up), Mom busted out the manly jello. Dad & Curt like it so much that they just ate it straight out of the bowl.
By this time, it was already 9:00 so Autumn & I came home and since Autumn wasn’t ready to go back to bed yet she laid in bed w/ me and we watched Army Wives.
I also wanted to mention just for my own records that I got spotlighted in the Relief Society newsletter this month. Here’s what the write up said:
This month’s spotlight is one very interesting woman! On top of interesting, she is extremely strong, smart, loving, caring, friendly and outgoing. This woman does not embarrass easily and is very open about herself. She is a single mother (that just narrowed the choices of women that it could be down to like 3) of a beautiful 4 1/2 year old little girl and is currently working as an office manager for a remodeling company. This woman served a mission in Slovenija, where she got to go back and visit last year – a trip she loved. Her favorite vacation though was a trip to Oahu with her best friend back in 2004. This dear sister loves Rouladen (a German food), getting her nails done once a month, watching “chick flicks” (Steel Magnolias being one of her all-time favorites), and blogging and taking pictures to document her life. She has a degree from BYU in social work, has served about 1 year in our primary, and is deathly afraid of people in costumes (think Mickey Mouse or mascots). She thought she would grow out of this fear, but apparently didn’t. In case you haven’t figured out who this month’s spotlight is, it is LISA JOHNSON! That you so much for your example and your service Lisa! We are so grateful for you!
