Today in sacrament I got up and bore my testimony about the tender mercies and miracles of the Lord. I told a shortened version of the car accident a few weeks ago and how miraculous it was that my Dad & I weren’t injured or killed. I tried not to, but I started crying and it was my ugly cry where I can’t talk legibly. I also bore my testimony about what a miracle it was that a 14 year old boy read a verse in the Bible and prayed about it and from that saw Heavenly Father & Jesus Christ. I shared what a miracle it is that we have the restored Gospel of Jesus Christ on the Earth today and that we have a living prophet. I expressed my gratitude for the miracle of the Atonement.
During the closing song, we sang Hymn #138 “Bless Our Fast, We Pray” and the last verse hit me and made the tears well up in my eyes again to the point that I couldn’t sing. I don’t know how many times I’ve sung this song in my life but it’s never had the meaning that it did today.
“As witnesses, we gather here
To thank, and to attest
Of mercies and of miracles
Oh, still our lives so bless!”
I got an email earlier this week that it was Autumn’s turn to give a talk in Primary. The topic was, “The first principles and ordinances of the gospel make it possible for me to live with God again.” I found some pictures in Mom’s stuff from when she used to direct the music. We practiced her talk yesterday and this morning.
I wasn’t sure if she would get really shy when it was finally time to speak into the microphone in front of the other kids. I held up and changed out the pictures while whispering a line into her ear. She would repeat the line and did a FABULOUS job. She was BEAMING before and after her talk. I am so proud of her.
We came home and had a frozen pizza for lunch and played w/ her toys for a while. Then we watched Mary Poppins and Thoroughly Modern Millie (I guess I was in a Julie Andrew’s movie mood). Autumn fell asleep about 10 minutes into TMM. She’s so adorable when she’s asleep. While she was asleep, I worked on my blog and enjoyed TMM.
I noticed that it was starting to get hot in the house, so I checked the thermostat and noticed that it said 82 degrees! It was set for 78, so I couldn’t figure out why it was so hot. Then I noticed a wet spot on the ceiling and realized the AC must be broken! I turned it off and turned on the 3 fans we have in the house and kept them pointed at Autumn & I. I’ll have to call to have someone come look at the AC b/c it’s supposed to be in the high 90’s all week. No bueno!
I woke Autumn up at 6:30 so she’d go to sleep tonight when it was time. We went all out for dinner (not) and had ramen noodles. She just played w/ her toys while we watched some TV and had a purple cow. We finally called it a night at 10:00 and went to bed. She had one fan pointed at her on one side of the bed, and I had a fan pointed at me on the other side of the bed.
