I made good on my promise from yesterday that we could go swimming after dinner. We had fresh steamed green beans from the garden w/ a little butter and salt and pepper and they were incredibly good. As soon as we were done eating, Autumn wanted to put on her suit and go swimming. We put on our suits and got a self portrait (not the best ever, but it works) and then went out in the garden and picked more veggies.
We got more green beans and a few cucumbers and bell peppers and zucchini and squash. We have a ton of green tomatoes that will be ripe soon, which stinks b/c Nick & Autumn & I don’t like tomatoes. I’ll have to find someone to give them away to. Anyways, as soon as we were done out in the garden we went and jumped in the pool. It felt so cool and refreshing after being hot and sweaty in the garden. Plus, I think we were able to wash off the chiggers before they could bite us. I would go stand in the middle of the shallow end and Autumn would jump off the Shamu shelf and swim to me. She’s really gotten back into the swing of swimming in just the few days we’ve been in the pool. I’m excited for her and Andrew to take swim lessons again this summer. We’ve been practicing the things she learned last year.
We finally got out of the pool once it was getting dark and went in the house and had popsicles for dessert and watched So You Think You Can Dance. Autumn needed a bath to wash off the chlorine and pool chemicals, so she took a bath in Mom’s tub. I was finally able to get her out of the tub so we could come home. I’ve got to start getting her to bed earlier so she won’t be so grouchy in the morning.
