After we had dinner, we decided to have some fun family time and went outside to swim. The water is a warm 84 degrees and it feels like you’re swimming around in bath water. But we’re just thankful to have a pool, regardless of the temperature. We were talking about how Nate has been posting pictures of himself “planking” on Facebook. I had never even heard of planking until a few days ago. It’s a new trend where you just lay flat on any surface you can find…like a pirate’s plank. We decided to try our hands at planking so we could post some pictures on Facebook, too. Here are Mom & Dad & Nick all planking on the patio table. I was going to join them, too, but when Nick got on the table started to wobble so we just got one with the 3 of them.
Dad went and planked on the diving board.
Then he planked on the kid’s picnic table.
We weren’t sure if this little stand would hold him, but it did. He’s trying out a Super Man type plank.
Mom even got in on the planking, but she only tried easy ones. She said this one hurt b/c of how coarse the surface of the diving board is.
Dad tried planking on the barrel in the pool. Autumn was so excited about all the planking and kept laughing at us.
Dad planked on the kid’s slide. Notice how it’s leaning to the side and about to break?
Then Dad those weren’t hard enough so he wanted to try and plank on the fence! This one hurt, b/c look at the expression on his face!
And Mom was helping behind the scenes by holding down the bushes.
Next up was planking on the trash can.
We finally got Autumn in on the action and she decided to plank on the Shamu Shelf in the pool.
We swam for a while after that and then Mom said she was going to give Emma a bath outside. The vet told Mom to was Emma w/ dandruff shampoo and live it on for 5 minutes so Emma won’t get dry patches of skin anymore. Autumn was more than eager to help give Emma a bath.
Then Autumn wanted in on the action and Mimi gave her an Alfalfa spike in the front.
It looked like they were having just way too much fun, so I got in on the sudsy action, too. We were saying how we should do this more often to help get the chlorine and other chemicals out of our hair and off our swimsuits and clothes right after we get out of the pool.
After a few minutes, it was time to hose off the suds. At first the water was really warm from sitting in the hose in the sun. But then it started to get pretty cold. Emma did NOT like getting a bath this way and was shaking the whole time we hosed her off (even though she got the hot water).
Bro. Monzingo stopped by to say hi and dropped off some veggies from their garden. He also brought us a container of Maggie’s super good salsa. It has quite a kick to it, and I would rate it as a 6 on a hot scale of 1 to 10. Autumn kept sneaking under Dad’s arm to grab a chip, but didn’t want any salsa after she put a drop of it on her tongue.
Yesterday, Dad had gone over to Curt & Mary’s to take the dogs some of our food we cleaned out of the fridge b/c it was old. He discovered that one of the dogs had given birth to 8 puppies over night. Curt & the family were gone out of town and Curt didn’t even know the dog was pregnant!
Dad put the puppies in a little pen area Curt has out in the dog run area and then took Autumn over to see them tonight and to check on them. They’re so little and cute and their eyes aren’t even open yet. Autumn was loving it.
I worked on backing up all my pictures onto the new external hard drive that Mom bought. I have one of my own, but that way I have my pictures saved in 3 places in case something crashes. I have over 41 THOUSAND pictures, and that’s just my digital ones…not all the pictures I took before digital cameras came around. Mom got this new game on the iPad and everyone was enthralled w/ figuring out how to use it. Before I knew it, it was 9:45 so I took Autumn home and we went to bed. What a fun day full of crafting and planking and soapy hair.
