Sno Cones & The Splash Park

IMG_2905 Autumn looked so adorable this morning before we headed out the door.  She actually let me put her hair in pigtails w/ cute bows.  She wanted me to take a picture of her w/ this balloon she picked out from the $1 store when we got a balloon for Liz & Christine forever ago.

IMG_2908 Autumn found this little white jacket on the table from when I cleaned out the Durango.  She insisted on wearing it to “college” even though it was 101 degrees today.  I was shocked to find her still wearing it when I picked her up!  She had wanted to wear it the whole day, so she did.  My bosses were really nice and told me to just leave at 3:00 b/c it was so quiet at work today.  I spent most of the day reading Eat, Pray, Love online.  I even treated myself to a panini and sweet potato fries at Market Street.  It’s such good and gourmet food (and a lot of it) for just $5.

IMG_2914 After I got Autumn, we went to Mom & Dad’s and kidnapped Lexie & Andrew to go get sno cones at the same place Liz & Liberty took me to get the creamsicle last week.  Their creamsicles were so good that I was really excited to try the sno cones.  However, I was super disappointed and will never be going back there.  First of all, we found a bunch of small black hair in Autumn’s sno cone (I took it back up and they gave us another one), then there was way too much ice and not enough flavor.  The whole top of the sno cone had zero flavor.  Then, the ice wasn’t soft at all or easy to eat.  It was like picking away at a glacier.  I got the wedding cake flavor and Lexie got marshmallow.

IMG_2915 I am SO GLAD we decided not to eat these in the car on the way to the park, like we had originally planned.  We saw that there was a picnic table behind the sno cone shack and sat and ate there.  As you can see, the sno cones got pretty messy.

IMG_2918 The kids started getting brain freezes about 1/2 way through their sno cones, so they wanted Lexie & I to finish theirs.  Andrew got Tiger’s Blend and Autumn got Hawaiian (she just wanted a pink colored one and didn’t care what flavor it was).  After they finished eating, they turned around on the picnic bench and Andrew reached over and put his arm around Autumn.  It was the sweetest thing ever!

IMG_2920 We went over to the park so the kids could play.  Lexie & I were both creeped out by this ice cream truck that drove by.  It had ghetto Christmas lights tapped all over it w/ black duct tape.  I would never let Autumn walk up to that truck to buy ice cream.  Lexie & I were talking about how it reminded us of the creepy Child Catcher on Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.

IMG_2922The kids had a grand old time running around in the water.  Lexie & I sat on a blanket in some shade and there was a nice breeze, so it was bearable.  Jon drove into town for the long weekend and came and met us at the park.  We were finally able to get the kids to leave so we could go home and eat dinner.  We just hung out while the kids played and we watched I Am Number Four.  But, I didn’t watch it b/c I was playing Pyramids on the iPad.  I ended up staying up until 1:00 am playing so I could beat the game.

Lisa -- we have been to that splash park. We'll have to meet up with you there sometime. I always wonder if I'm going to bump into you when we go to Allen/Fairview.

Also, I had to laugh about the creepy ice cream truck. They give me the creeps and are so ghetto. They just slowly roam the streets trying to lure children to their vans -- I hate the thought of it!! Gross.
