Some Of Autumn’s Firsts

P1020735Tonight for dinner, Dad made pot stickers and tater tots (I guess he was trying to clean out the freezer).  I can’t wait for Mom to get home from Utah!  But Dad’s doing good and at least didn’t try to make eggplant delight.  LOL!  After dinner, Autumn wanted to go swimming.  Dad pulled the basketball hoop over by the steps so Autumn could try shooting baskets.  It was her first time doing that.

P1020738 She was SO PROUD of herself when she finally made a basket.  I am afraid she got my lack of coordination & lack of ability for sports.  Maybe if Papa keeps working w/ her on that she can overcome the genes I gave her.  We swam for a while and she had 2 huge milestones tonight.  She swam across the deep end in one breath, and then she swam all the way from the waterfall to the Shamu Shelf by herself!  I was a proud Mama & made sure to shower her with praise.

P1020740 Once we finally got out of the pool, we went to get towels to dry off and I noticed Emma peeking out at us in a little corner where the door cover had moved.  It was so funny to see here there looking at us w/ one eye as if she were spying on us.

P1020745Dad went to go into his room and yelled out for Autumn & I to come look at something cool.  There was this ginormous zipper spider in the bushes by the door.  It had caught a big moth in it’s web and was feeding.  It was like a bad train wreck…I wanted to look away b/c it creeped me out, but I couldn’t b/c it was so fascinating.  After all the excitement of the zipper spider, it was time to come home.

I put Autumn to bed and there wasn’t really anything good on TV so I worked on getting caught up on my journaling in Project Life.  It’s been about 5 weeks since I printed off my pictures, so I think I’ll do that this weekend and get it all updated.  Nick came home from work while I was working on it and he said, “Autumn is so lucky.”  When I asked him why he said, “Because you are a good Mom to keep track of all her memories and that will be cool for her to look at when she’s older.”  That made me feel so good and just affirmed what I have always felt about how important it is to preserve pictures and stories and photos.  So, even if something happens to me tomorrow or next week or next year, Autumn will have all these things to look back on some day.  I stayed up too late, as usual, and watched Whose Line and then finally called it a night.
