Unfortunately, Autumn did not sleep in this morning and woke up bright & early at 7:20 am. She made sure Papa made good on his promise to have waffles for breakfast and even got to help stir the batter. After we ate, I drove Dad to the dealership so she could get his Corvette b/c he got his windows tinted and it was ready to be picked up. I came back and helped Mom make deviled eggs for Tyler’s party and then we started some crock pot spaghetti sauce for dinner tonight.
Mom & Dad & Autumn & I loaded in the truck at 10:30 and hit the road for Tyler’s house b/c he was having a party for his birthday and Uncle Robert’s 60th! When we got there, Caleb greeted everyone at the door with an individualized “necklace” that he had made for everyone. Here’s the whole crew sporting our awesome necklaces.
Mine is the one on the left and Autumn’s is the one on the right. He wrote out all of our names phonetically, so Autumn is spelled “Odume.” I love it that he was so thoughtful and drew us all a different picture and wrote our names. What a kid!
We ate lunch and then opened presents and then it was time to swim. I was happy to get to swim since our pool is still not working. We had gotten this coconut bar float for Tyler for his birthday. We tried to use an electric inflater that they use for their air mattress to blow it up, but that wasn’t working so Dad & I inflated it the good old fashioned way…by mouth. Here’s the fun host & hostess with the most-est.
The idea is that you put drinks in the holes or snacks and then people can swim up to the bar and enjoy treats & beverages right there in the pool. We put some celery sticks in one of the holes that we had left over from a veggie tray.
But, that didn’t last long and the kids just wanted to climb on it and float around the pool on it. I think it’s so funny how it looks like Caleb is holding on to the tree for dear life.
Autumn got the right idea on how to stay shaded and out of the sun. It was a hot day and the sun was shining in full force so I only stayed out there for about an hour and then I could feel myself starting to get a sunburn so I got out.
Once it was time to go, we went out to the truck and passed the purple chaise lounge over to Aunt Sandy’s truck. I don’t have the space for it in my living room anymore, plus we never sit in it and it has tears in it. So, we gave it to Aunt Sandy & she is going to keep it and recover it. I know she’s going to do something fabulous with it and I can’t wait to see how it looks. Tyler was showing off his muscles and how strong he is to be able to lift it over his head.
We came home and had our super yummy crock pot spaghetti sauce for dinner and then just relaxed and watched some TV. I had to pause the news and take a picture of the 7 Day Forecast b/c if we have temps over 100 degrees through next Saturday, we’ll have set a new record for the most days over 100 degrees! I feel so bad for all the farmers whose livelihoods depend on rain. I also feel so bad for people who have to work outside like roofers! I don’t know how they can do it. I’m thankful to work in a nice comfy office that has air conditioning.
It was a fun day and I truly appreciate that we live so close to family and can get together and celebrate birthdays and holidays. It’s so great for Autumn to know and spend time w/ her 2nd cousins and extended family. Since we had such a big day, we came home and both went right to sleep so we can be well rested for church tomorrow.
