Not much happened on today. After work/school, we went over to Mom & Dad’s house and Mom had rented 2 movies from Redbox. She got Soul Surfer and Red Riding Hood. Since I don’t watch scary movies b/c I get scared easily, we watched Soul Surfer. Nate wasn’t going to watch it w/ us b/c he said it was going to be a lame chick flick, but I talked him into it and he ended up liking it. It’s a great story of courage and persistence and never giving up on your dreams. I don’t know why, but every time I hear or say Soul Surfer, it makes me want to break out singing, “Hey Soul Surfer (instead of sister) ain’t that mister mister on the radio…” LOL!
I also had to mention that today I was the beneficiary of someone’s RAK (Random Act of Kindness). I blogged about a woman named Sarah from Canada that had kindly sent me the extra supplies she had from her 2010 Project Life. The next day at work, I emailed her to ask her how much I owed her for the shipping, b/c I wasn’t sure if it was in Canadian or US dollars. This is was our email exchange back and forth:
ME:
I got your package in the mail today and it was such a fun surprise!
I noticed on the package that the cost of shipping was $16.
Is that Canadian dollars or American? Basically, how much do I need to send you to cover the cost of shipping?
Thank you for being so generous and willing to share your excess with a complete stranger. :)
HER:
(almost 3 weeks after I sent her the above email):
You know what -- its my gift to you! Life isn't great right now for lots of people so just sending some positive vibes your way. Enjoy!!!
ME:
I am sitting here at work and your email just made me start crying.
Thank you SO MUCH! I can't even tell you how much your kindness and generosity mean to me!
I will definitely pay your kindness forward by helping out someone else.
Sending lots of thanks and blessings and good vibes your way! :)
HER:
That is wonderful...I've had some bad news recently (family and friend health issues) and some days are tough. Little things make a difference. Have a wonderful week.
I never ceased to be amazed and thankful for such loving and kind and wonderful people. Yes, it seems like most people in this world have forgotten how to be kind and generous. But, then something like this happens that just renews my faith in humankind and makes me want to be a better person.
