Stickers On Sunday

jesus  Today at church, my lesson was on the Atonement and I thought all week about how to make such an incredible concept easy for my 11 year olds to understand.  I went around the room and had them all tell me what’s the best gift they’ve ever received and I wrote it on the board.  Then I had each one tell me one of the biggest events in the world such as WWII, 9/11, The Great Depression, etc and wrote those on the board.  Then I had them each tell me about the worst pain they’ve ever been in and put that on the board.  I asked them what all of these 3 lists had in common.  Then I showed them this picture and we talked about how the Atonement is the greatest gift we have been given, it’s the greatest and most important event in the history of the world, and it’s the greatest pain anyone has ever experienced.  Hopefully that helped them understand a little bit of the Atonement.

P1020976After church, we came home and changed and then went over to Mom & Dad’s.  Mom made some scrumptious creamed pork chops, garlic mashed potatoes, and yellow crooked neck squash.  After lunch Autumn discovered a pack of stickers and went to town on filling up a paper w/ the stickers.  She does this during sacrament, too, and it keeps her happy and quiet so I’m happy to supply her with the stickers.

P1020977 Autumn found the knee pads that Papa used the other day and put them on and thought she was the funniest thing ever.  She kept cracking herself up while crawling around the living room.  We had to go home b/c our home teachers were coming over at 4:00.  We love when they come and today was no exception.  The lesson was on Love At Home and I expressed how thankful I am to have grown up in a family where we say we love each other a lot and give hugs and kisses.

P1020982 After they left, we went back to Mom & Dad’s house.  Earlier when Dad came home from work, Autumn was “hiding” from him under the leg rest of the couch.  So, when we came in Mom & Dad’s house Papa decided to “hide” under the leg rest too.  I was laughing so hard, especially b/c he had his eyes covered.  Little kids always think that if they can’t see you then you can’t see them.  He was pretending like it would work for him, too.  So funny!

P1020985At 6:30 I had to leave and go to a fireside.  Our stake was in charge of it and I haven’t been able to go to the last 2 b/c I was picking someone up at the airport.  Tonight one of the temple sealers and his wife spoke to us about temples and keeping an eternal perspective.  It was good and just reconfirmed it to me how important it is to go to the temple.  We didn’t have anyone to lead the music, so I offered to do it.  Too bad no one was singing very loud, so I sounded louder than usual and I’m not a very good singer.  Oh, well.

After I stayed and helped get everything cleaned up, I came home and Curt, Mary & Jessie had come over to say hi.  They were all watching Hillbilly Handfishing, which was crazy!  Curt said we should all sign up to do that, and I said you couldn’t pay me enough to get in a murky and muddy river and stick my hand into the holes of slimy rocks so a big catfish can bite it.  But it was really entertaining to watch.

It was already 9:30 by this point, so I had to get Miss Autumn Bottom home to bed.  I got her to bed and then stayed up until midnight watching Drop Dead Diva.  I’ve noticed that I always stay up too late on Sundays, but I really like the show b/c the main character is plus size and she always is dressed in flattering clothes w/ great make up and hair and looks well put together.  Anyways, I hope Baby Jackson decides to make his appearance this coming week!
