Congrats To The New Home Owners

IMG_3444 This morning I got up at 6:30, got showered, put a load of laundry in the dryer, had breakfast, got Autumn bathed and ready for the day, and packed a suitcase before 8:00.  Dad stopped by to pick up Nick & Autumn & I so we could drive down to Austin to help Lexie & Jon move into their new house.  We stopped in West, TX to check out the kolaches at this famous Czech bakery.

IMG_3441 We walked in and I was surprised at how small it was.  But, it was also really quaint.  I told Nick to lean in to this picture, but I was really trying to get one of the cute old people in the back corner.  They were just sitting there enjoying every moment of their Saturday morning.  I got the feeling that they have a standing get together at this restaurant and at that table every Saturday morning.  They were talking and laughing up a storm and it made me so happy to see them.  I want to have that someday…getting together every week w/ friends that I know and love just to shoot the breeze while enjoying good food.

IMG_3443 Autumn, Nick & I all got a kolache, but Dad had to be brave and try the skunk egg.  His actually ended up being the best of them all b/c it had lots of ingredients and was kind of like a breakfast burrito.  My sausage one was soggy and had no flavor and was cold.  But, we also got some day old cream puffs (that’s what they called them but they really were like a big cream filled éclair) that were to die for.

IMG_3447 We got to Lexie & Jon’s just as they had finished unloading all the big furniture and boxes.  It was actually perfect timing b/c they were all exhausted and we were fresh and energized and ready to work.  I set right in unpacking all the boxes in the kitchen.  Autumn was so good and played w/ Andrew while I worked away.  They both dressed up as super heroes and had fun playing up in Andrew’s room.  I have no idea why she has a strand of hair going across the middle of her face.

IMG_3449 Once we got the whole kitchen put away (which took quite a while), we got out the stuff for sandwiches and made a bunch for lunch.  The kids went and sat outside on the deck and said they were having a picnic.  You can see how dry the grass is here b/c of the bad drought, but we got a little bit of rain today and it was nice that it was cloudy and cool so the kids could run around and play outside.

IMG_3451Dad worked on a bunch of little projects like mounting the TV on the wall (the previous home owners left this mounting rack) and putting the wires in the wall so you don’t see them.  Andrew was a good little helper and I like how the word “Dream” is on the fireplace hearth b/c I’m sure Andrew dreams of growing up and being like his Papa (and Jon too) someday.

DSCN1236 Jon’s Dad & Stepmom drove in from Utah to visit.  They got in this afternoon and were happy to get to meet Jackson for the first time.

DSCN1241Grandpa Guymon was so cute and was running around outside w/ the kids and they were loving every second of it.  He gets major brownie points for that b/c it was so stinkin’ hot outside.  Trace (the dog) loves the new big backyard where he can run.

DSCN1250  Mom & Dad & I made it our goal to get all the beds put together and made so that tonight everyone can just crawl in to bed.  Andrew especially liked his room and that he has a bed and then a “fort” between the bunk bed to play in.  He and Autumn were testing out the reading nook area in the window sill.

We came to the hotel and Autumn was hyper and kept climbing all over me and wouldn’t go to sleep.  I felt like I was being mauled by a bear.  She finally fell asleep and I blogged and watched the BYU vs. U of U game.  I finally fell asleep b/c the Cougars were getting whooped on.  It was a long day, but we got a lot accomplished, which always makes me feel good and sleep well.
