I was shocked and amazed to wake up this morning at 8:15 again! WOO HOO! 2 whole days of sleeping in. Usually we have church at 9:00 but since it’s the first week in September, we now got switched to 1:00. I wasn’t very happy about that b/c I hate leaving church in the winter and it’s already getting dark by 4:00. Plus, when I get home it feels like the whole day is already gone and over with. But, I was actually able to get a lot done this morning. I even cleaned and wiped out my fridge. I don’t know if it’s b/c I was actually home and had the energy to do it or b/c I know all those ladies are coming over on Saturday. But it was nice to clean up a little bit.
I also had time to make Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Cookie Cups for my class since they have all brought and used their scriptures for the past 2 months. I actually used butter (instead of margarine) for the butter cream frosting this time and it held up and looked great. I also colored it green instead of gray.
Little Miss Autumn looked too cute for words in her new dress that I got yesterday. She kept twirling around in it like she was a ballerina. Yep, she’s got ballerina on the brain.
Right as I walked into my room to get dressed for church, the door bell rang. I threw on my dress and went to answer it thinking it was the deacons coming around to pick up fast offerings. It was a guy from 10 houses down the street who came to tell me that he had noticed water running down the gutter all morning. So, he followed it down to the source, which happened to be our house! He said it had been running all day!!! He even brought a tool w/ him to shut off the water for me. I kept telling him how thankful I was, b/c I never go in and out of the front door and wouldn’t have known we had a leak, I didn’t have the tool to open the pothole and even if I did, I wouldn’t have had a clue about how to turn it off. Plus, I was in my Sunday dress and wouldn’t have gotten all wet and muddy if I tried. He was such a Good Samaritan in so many ways.
First of all, he was a good enough neighbor to be observant and notice the water. Second, he acted on his observation and found where the water was coming from.
Third, he came prepared to do something about it.
Fourth, he said the same thing had happened at their house yesterday and that he could send the plumber he had hired down to look at ours tomorrow.
Fifth, he said if I save the receipt from the plumber I can submit that to the city and they can reduce my water bill (since it’s most likely going to be a huge bill) if I show that there was a water leak.
We tried getting our usual “princess smile” together but she was in a silly mood so I decided to go with it and we did a silly kissing picture. From the looks of this picture, I’ll have to work w/ Autumn on her pucker.
I have to record this to remind Autumn about later in life…the closing song in sacrament today was The Spirit of God. Autumn started dancing to the music by doing twirls and putting her hand above her head in a ballerina way. It made me smile b/c she was totally unaware of anything around her and was just enjoying the music. What made it even funnier is that a few of the kids in my class noticed it and asked me what she was doing when we got to class.
We came home and changed and went over to Mom & Dad’s. Mom had made an amazing meal and it was fun, b/c Bro. Monzingo came over and ate w/ us since his kids were gone and Maggie was at work. I asked him about some of his stories from when he was in the military. He had some really funny stories, cool stories, and scary stories. I knew he was in the military, but didn’t know about that side of him…like jumping out of airplanes and not having his parachute deploy! It was such an enjoyable evening, but it was already time to go home before I knew it. That’s why 1:00 church is hard…the evenings fly by.
We got home I put Autumn to bed, and went to start a load of laundry and remembered…oh yeah, we don’t have any water! Luckily I had a gallon of water in the pantry so we could use that to wash hands and brush teeth. I hope Dad is able to fix the leak tomorrow so we can have running water again.
