Grandparents Day, New Clothes & A New Grill

P1030164 Autumn got a special surprise at school today.  Mom & Dad came for Grandparent’s Day from 10-11.  They got to sit on the alphabet rug, do the pledge of allegiance, and the best part was making these pictures using a technique called “tear art.”  You just tear the paper, you don’t use scissors.  I think they did a great job and their pictures look awesome.

P1030160 After Grandparent’s Day, they met up with Aimee for lunch.  She had 5 big bags of clothes for Autumn.  But, they were 4T and Autumn is now wearing size 6 and 6X.  We found a few things that fit, but barely.  She forced her feet into those shoes, even though they were too small.  Aimee is so kind to share her clothes w/ us.  I’m sad Autumn’s too big for the clothes now, but am so thankful for her thoughtfulness and generosity.  She helped to save me so much money and always had the nicest clothes, so Autumn always looked so cute and stylish.

P1030162 We had grilled chicken and corn on the cob and yellow crook neck squash & zucchini for dinner.  But, the grill finally gave out and wasn’t working.  It heated up to 500 degrees, but there were no flames to actually grill the food.  It just kind of baked them.  So, while those were baking instead of grilling, we got out the grill that Mom & Dad got last year at a huge discount.  We spent an hour putting it together, and had sweat just dripping down our backs b/c it’s so stinkin’ hot again.

P1030163Once our food was finally baked and the other grill was put together, we came in the house to eat.  Autumn wanted her corn cut off the cob and didn’t really eat it, which is not like her b/c she usually can’t get enough corn.  But tonight, she was being silly and kept asking us what her corn looked like.  We told her it looked like a pile of corn and she laughed and said we were silly and that it’s a puma.  What the heck!?!?  How does she even know what a puma is.  Plus, the corn pile looked nothing like a puma, but I’m glad she is using her imagination.  Also, notice what the pelican’s shirt says.  Aimee and her family are Jewish and I thought this was a cute shirt and reminder of them and their incredible kindness.

Anyways, we cleaned up the dinner dishes and went home.  We took some of the cookie cupcakes we made on Saturday and took them over to Deckers w/ a note to thank them for having us over for dinner last Monday.  I am so thankful to have them as friends.  They are so good to Autumn & I.  We came home and I put Autumn to bed and flipped back and forth between Monday night football and the Miss Universe Pageant.  I went to bed b/c I have to get up early tomorrow to pull off a special surprise for someone special.
