This morning Autumn & I got up and got cleaned up for the day and went over to Dad’s house around 9:30. The people from Sherman that bought the 10 waiting room chairs were going to come back down and pick up the other 8 that they weren’t able to get on Thursday. They had already come and gone by the time I got there. Autumn & I went upstairs and wrapped the presents for Liz’s baby shower. Autumn was such a good helper and put the tape on the wrapping paper where I would tell her to. I told her she’ll have to be my special present wrapping helper for Christmas.
Dad kept Autumn for me, and I went to Liz’s baby shower. I got there a little early so I could get some pictures. Her sister threw it for her and did such a cute job with all of the decorating. Liz’s baby bump is getting so big! It’s crazy to think that in less than a month, she will be a Mama.
They had all the guests sign in when they got there, and had this cute picture of Liberty on the table. In the corner of the picture is their 3D ultrasound picture of the baby. He looks so much like Liberty’s baby picture! I thought that was a neat personal touch. Another cool thing they did that I’ll have to remember for any baby/bridal showers I throw is that they gave everyone a blank envelope and had them fill it out w/ their own address. That way when Liz goes to send out thank you notes, she doesn’t have to try and find people’s address and take the time to address the envelopes. Such a great idea!
I didn’t get a picture of the food, but they had some yummy sweet potato muffins, bite-sized quiche, breakfast casserole, fruit salad, and a fancy drink w/ sherbet in it. We were all talking and eating when the front door opened and in walked Liz’s Dad. As you can tell from this look on her face, she was completely surprised. It was a really sweet and tender moment. He had flown in that morning just to be at her baby shower.
Here is a picture of Liz’s Mom, Liz, Dad, Sister (who threw her the baby shower), and Grandma (the shower was at her house). I just love Liz’s Mom & Grandma. They are such neat ladies. I would say that I love Liz’s sister too so she doesn’t feel left out, but I’ve only met her a few times and don’t know her very well. But you can totally tell they are sisters, b/c they almost look like twins.
After everyone ate, it was time to open gifts and Liz got a HUGE HAUL. I am so glad that she will be prepared w/ all the clothes and baby stuff she could ever need. I loved this picture of the Liz w/ the 2 Grandmas-to-be. Liberty’s Mom is such a sweetheart and it was fun to see her since I haven’t seen her in a while.
After all the fun and excitement, I had to get back home to Autumn & Dad. So, I loaded up the folding chairs they had borrowed and put them in the trunk of my car (I LOVE having a nice big trunk) and headed home. Dad & Autumn were out in the driveway practicing riding a bike. Dad raised the seat for Autumn so it’s easier for her to get enough leverage to pedal the bike.
I was in the house putting away the folding chairs when Dad yelled from the garage that he needed me to get him a towel of the guest bathroom. I thought maybe he had spilled something so I go charging into the bathroom and swing open the bathroom door to find THIS standing there. I let out a huge scream and backed up and poor Autumn was behind me and got squished into the wall. And not only is it creepy, but its eyes light up and it makes scary sounds. My heart was beating so fast I thought I was having a heart attack. Dad was laughing so hard he was doubled over and couldn’t catch his breath. I told him he is “evil and must be destroyed.” (brownie points to anyone that can name the movie that quote is from).
Autumn was playing w/ her dolls and went over and asked Papa if he would braid her doll’s hair. He gave it his best effort and it actually looked pretty good. I guess when you have practice with sewing up people’s lacerations, braiding Barbie hair is no big deal.
We had some frozen chicken enchiladas for dinner and then watched some TV. I laid back in one of the reclining chairs and closed my eyes for just a minute and next thing you know, I had been asleep for 2 hours! It’s all those late nights of doing Project Life that finally caught up to me. Dad said Autumn kept trying to talk to me and wake me up, so he took her outside to rider her bike and play. Do I have the best Dad ever, or what?
We spent the rest of the evening watching the Rangers game. GO RANGERS! I decided to make the season’s first batch of killer pumpkin bars. Autumn wanted to help, and b/c I was letting her dump the flour I lost count and put 4 cups of flour instead of 2! WHOOPS! They still turned out fine, but were just a little thicker than usual. She’s turning into such a good little helper in the kitchen.
She wasn’t into watching the Rangers Game, so she wanted to watch Jem in the other room. I went and put it on for her and when it was over she came in and announced that she was going to plank on the coffee table. What a ham!
We finally headed home so I could get Autumn to bed and then worked on Project Life. I went through and took all my pictures out of the little booklets I had them in, and figured out which ones I don’t have copies of so I can get them printed off. Look at how big this pile is! It’s taller than my pen. This is a way bigger undertaking than I had originally thought, but it’s so worth it. It’s taking so long to do, b/c I have to read through my journal and then go back and read through my letters home each week to piece all the information and details together and then write that on the journaling cards. But, I’ll just work on it every night and I’ll be done before I know it and have a lot of great books to show for it. I found this quote and LOVED it:
A birth certificate shows you were born.
A death certificate shows you have died.
A photo album (or Project Life) shows you have lived.
