This morning we were happy to wake up to rain, b/c we need the moisture so badly after the hottest summer on record. I pulled up to a stop sign and had to get a picture of this lone rain drop that probably fell off the garage door when we were backing out. It looks like the pitchfork on Hell’s Kitchen. LOL!
When Dad & I were making the menu last night, he asked what we should have for dinner tonight and Autumn had yelled out pizza. That made us laugh b/c we didn’t even know she was listening to us. So, on the way home from work I stopped and got some Little Caesars for dinner. I wasn’t hungry b/c I had a late lunch from Market Street, so I just sat and watched Dad & Autumn eat. Autumn ate 1/2 of the crazy bread, all the sauce, and none of the pizza. She cracks me up. Dad had been out working in the yard which is why he looks so sweaty & scrubby.
There was this spider that had built a big web in the corner of the patio and Autumn kept freaking out and couldn’t focus on eating b/c of the spider. So, Dad got a broom and got it down so he could go put it in the bushes so it wouldn’t distract Autumn anymore. It looks like a hermit crab to me b/c of the shell looking back. We kept trying to get a picture on the front of it, but when we would turn the broom, it would turn. I guess it was just being camera shy.
One hilarious thing I have to record so I can remember someday is that Autumn didn’t want to say the prayer over the food. So, before Dad took the spider down he said, “OK, well then we’ll have the spider say the prayer.” He said the prayer, but in a really high pitched voice. It was so funny!!!
Autumn said she wanted to ride her bike, and I thought she meant her scooter. But she said her bike that was out in the shed. So, we went out in the shed and got her bike but I couldn’t find her helmet. We had tried getting her to ride a trike in the past a few times, but she never got the hang of how to pedal. But, today was the day and she figured out how to do it w/out any help.
She got down to the end of the driveway (which is on a slight decline), but had a bit of a struggle getting back up the incline. I tried helping her, but she didn’t want my help so I resigned myself to being the photographer instead. Dad didn’t really have to push her much, but just be there to make sure the bike didn’t roll backwards b/c it has no brakes and she wouldn’t have known how to use them anyways.
I remembered when we tried getting her to ride the trike in the past that Dad had used a broom to help push the trike so we didn’t have to lean over b/c it hurts your back after a while. So, we got that out again and it worked like a charm.
She would go down the driveway by herself but needed a little help to go back up the driveway. She was so proud of herself, and I was proud of her too. I pretended to race her but of course let her win every time.
Dad had to go in and get showered b/c he was a stink bug Johnson and was on back up and he wanted to be ready to go in case the clinics called and needed him. Autumn did NOT want my help going back up the driveway, but she couldn’t get her legs pumping fast enough to give her the momentum she needed. So her happy smile soon turned into this mopey/whiny face. She finally realized she needed help and let me help her a little bit. I love her independent spirit, but sometimes it makes me nuts. I wonder where she gets the independent (bordering on stubborn) spirit from? LOL!
After dinner, we watched some TV and then had to head home so I could give her a bath and get her to bed. I was BEYOND STOKED that my Project Life kit arrived today. I didn’t think it would be here until Friday. So, while Autumn took her bath I looked through the box and just admired and felt the papers. Right away, I started working on my Project Life mission book.
Luckily I was smart in the MTC and did a primitive version of Project Life without even knowing it. I had numbered a bunch of sticky notes and then wrote a little journaling on the sticky note about the picture and then put that on the back. It has been so helpful, b/c there are a LOT of little details I have forgotten over the past 9 1/2 years since the pictures were taken. It has made putting this Project Life together so much easier.
I got my pictures organized and then started on the journaling. I put on Les Miserables music on my laptop and went to work. Next thing I know, it was 1:48 am!!! How in the heck did that happen? I was just so caught up in the memories that I didn’t realize it was so late. I forced myself to walk away from the pictures and go to bed.
