One of the benefits of sleeping over on Saturday night is getting to have Papa’s famous Texas waffles for breakfast. The kids look so cute in their jammies.
We lounged around and talked for a while and then Lexie had to go get ready for church. I watched Jackson, but didn’t snuggle and love on him b/c I’m still sick. Of course as soon as Autumn heard Lexie was going into the bathroom to do her hair and put on her makeup, Autumn was right there as a little shadow just soaking in the girly-ness of it all.
Here they are all dressed up in their church duds. What a good looking group.
Autumn & I went home and got ready for church ourselves. I wasn’t sure if I wanted to stay all 3 hours or not b/c of being sick. It was fast & testimony Sunday and the missionaries got up and talked about listening to the Holy Ghost. They were riding their bikes to an appointment and they had their helmets on their heads, but didn’t have the straps done up under their chin. Stupid, I know! Why even bother putting on a helmet if you’re not going to strap it on. Anyways, one of the Elders said he had an impression to strap his helmet. So, he did. Then the other Elder saw that and felt like he should strap his on, too. Not 2 minutes later, they were riding along and the 2nd Elder got hit by a car! He said his head hit the car first and then banged into the ground when he fell off the car!!!
They each compared how the Spirit is like our helmet in life to protect us, keep us safe, etc. It was really touching and made me think back to my car accident and how differently that could have ended. I was feeling OK, so we stayed for all 3 hours.
After church, we went home and changed and then went to Mom & Dad’s house for a Super Bowl party. I honestly didn’t care at all about either team and couldn’t even told you who played. I edited pictures and blogged while it was on in the background. Then during the Half Time Show Autumn suddenly became interested, and got up on the fireplace and did her own Half Time Show. That girl has moves.
Even though the Cowboys or Colts weren’t playing, Dad & Autumn were sporting their NFL jerseys. Very festive of them.
I found a recipe for an orange julius recipe in that 1984 Relief Society Homemaking book that I wanted to try. So, we tried it out and it was OK, but I think I used too much Mexican vanilla. Autumn was drinking hers and got a big foam moustache. So, we all gave ourselves one too even though you can’t see it very well in this picture. But, it was still fun to try it and make a great memory. Nick was lucky b/c he got the “special cup.” That’s what Dad used to tell us when we were little and got to drink out of the can that the concentrate came in.
For our Super Bowl dinner we had mini pizzas to make it fun for the kids. We also had veggies and dip, puppy chow, and other snacks.
At 7:58, Lexie & I picked up the exer-saucer w/ Jackson in it and rushed into Mom & Dad’s room to watch the newest episode of Downton Abbey. I think that Lord Grantham is getting too friendly w/ that maid who’s husband died in the war. I hope nothing shady happens there. It was such a good episode (just like they all are) and I can’t wait for Tuesday when the 2nd season will be delivered to my door. I pre-ordered it on Amazon.com a few weeks ago.
It was a great night and I don’t even know who won the Super Bowl. Downton Abbey is WAAAAAAAAAY more entertaining than the Super Bowl anyways and that’s saying a lot b/c I love football.
