Today after dinner, the kids and I decided to go on a walk. We wanted to check out all the pretty white iris along the road. I made the kids do a smiley pose…
…and then I just let them run wild. Look at how far down the road those gorgeous flowers stretch!
After we walked down to the barn to have a look around, we were walking back to the house and I noticed this breathtaking tree at Curt & Mary’s. This picture does is no justice at all, but this tree was a bright/hot pink and looked like it was on fire.
While we were out front taking pictures, both Mary & Pete came home. I told them we were trespassing and wanted to go take more pictures in the backyard b/c there was a pretty pink tree back there, too. She laughed and said to go right ahead. We got in the backyard and Autumn & Andrew had a blast. They got to see the chickens in the chicken run, climb to the top of the tree house, and then swing on the “scary high” swing. Pete was so nice and pushed both of the kids in the swing high enough that they could touch the tree branches.
Autumn went and relaxed w/ Jessie on the hammock while Pete twisted Andrew up in the swing and then let him go. Pete was having Andrew tuck his legs in to go faster and put his arms & legs out to go slower. While we were over there, Dad just happened to come by to bring Curt some empty plastic mayonnaise bottles to put in his shop for screws and nails, etc.
Just one more parting shot of the pink tree.
We came home once dusk set in b/c the bugs started coming out and were starting to bite me. We got home and Dad said he had some treats for the kids. He did a little experiment w/ them gave them each 2 choices. They could each choose from a pile that had M&M’s, Whoppers, and 100 Grand OR just 1 Reese’s cup. He wanted to see which one they would choose and they both picked to have the pile of 3 average candies instead of the 1 good candy. Lexie & I were more than happy w/ that b/c that meant we got the Reese’s cups.
Dad decided it was time to take out Autumn’s stitches. It’s been a week and he said they looked good. It was a group effort b/c Mom was holding Autumn’s arms in case she tried wiggling around, Andrew held the flashlight so Dad could see what he was doing, and Dad removed the stitches. Autumn did GREAT and didn’t cry or move at all.
Lexie had gone to the store to get some baby food for Jackson. When she got home from the store she had a small present for all the kids. She got Jackson a little blue rubber ducky to chew on, some plastic Army figurine guys for Andrew, and a package of rings for Autumn. Look at all that bling!
We came home after all the fun and I got Autumn to bed. It was nice to not have Young Women’s tonight b/c of Spring Break. I have a love/hate feeling about Spring Break. I hate it that I have to work even though it’s Spring Break. I hate that I couldn’t take Autumn somewhere fun and have a little vacation. But, I am loving that there is hardly any traffic in the morning. I think I would for sure trade the traffic for a vacation. Oh, well. Maybe someday when I’m rich (BA HA HA) I won’t have to work during Spring Break.
