When we woke up this morning, Papa fixed Texas waffles for Autumn. She wanted some food coloring in it, so they decided on blue Texas waffles. It was fast Sunday, so that was really nice of Papa to do since he was fasting. I was going to fast, but still felt like crud and had to take medicine and cough drops.
When Mom woke up, Autumn couldn’t wait to show her the book she had made in Kindergarten. It was based on the “Brown bear, brown bear, what do you see?” It was a really cute book and Autumn read it to anyone who was willing to listen. I’m so proud of her and how much she’s growing and learning.
Everyone left and went to church, and Autumn & I stayed home b/c I didn’t want to cough and sneeze and share my sick germs w/ anyone at church. Since we stayed home, Mom said we were in charge of making dinner. We did 3 dozen deviled eggs b/c Curt had brought a bunch of fresh eggs from his chickens over the night before. I needed to sit and relax for a while after that, and then we got back to work and made a pan of Aunt Jeri’s brownies. I had made them once before but they didn’t turn out as good as the ones I had at the Olympic Party at Aunt Jana’s while I was in Utah, so I decided to make them again to see if I could get them to taste right this time. They were good, but tasted way too buttery for me.
Mom had left out some chicken tenders on the counter to thaw, so I was trying to figure out what we could make for dinner w/ those. I remembered seeing something on Pinterest and decided to make this. I used a packet of dry ranch dressing instead of Italian and it tasted good. The only problem is that the potatoes weren’t done after 30 minutes so I took out the chicken and green beans and put that potatoes back in for another 30 minutes. I made this twice, b/c it didn’t make enough to feed all of us. The 2nd time I used Italian dressing, but liked the ranch dressing packet better. This was on OK meal, but not one I would rave about and make all the time.
We just vegged out and watched TV and football the rest of the evening. We also worked on a puzzle. Curt & Mary & Jessie came over to say hi and Autumn wanted Uncle Curt to read her a book. We were talking about how big she’s gotten and how I remember Curt holding Autumn up in the air by her feet and legs when she was just a little tiny baby (see below). Now look at her!
Anyways, Autumn & I packed up all of our stuff and came home to sleep. It felt like we had been at Mom & Dad’s forever and I’m sure they wanted their space & peace & quiet back. Plus, it was good for Autumn & I to sleep in our own beds.
